I 4 Co. B-The First Day. ACTIVITIES RELIGIOUS. Religious and welfare activities were taken care of by Chaplains O. Cohee of the faculty of the School for Chaplains of Ft. Leavenworth and Chaplain Curtis Tiernan, O. R. C., Springfield, Mo. Mass was celebrated at 7 each Sunday morning at the chapel at Fort Leavenworth. Union services were held at 9:30 a. m., at the chaplain's tent. Churches of Leavenworth provided transportation to take students to services in the city churches at I0:30. General services were held at 7 Sunday evenings, the I7th Infantry band and pastors of Leavenworth churches co-operating with Chaplains Cohee and Tier- nan in conducting these services. Besides conducting the showing of motion pictures furnished by the Y. M. C A., the chaplainsalso provided a library of over 500 books, daily newspapers and magazines. Students who became discouraged found the chaplain's tent a cheerful place to tell their troubles. Fortunately their number was small. ' i I co. B-The Third Day.

Home made cookies contributed by women from Kansas, Arkansas and Missouri were dispensed by her at the chaplain's tent to all students who visited it. . h Distinguished Visitors.. General John Pershing, General of the Armies, Visited the camp during the last days of the month. Major George B. Duncan, commanding general of the Seventh Corps Area, was another visitor. . Under the auspices of the Leavenworth chapters, the Lions, Rotarians and Kiwanians of Kansas City, Atchison, Lawrence, Topeka and St. Joseph visited the camp and messe-d with the students. Several hundred visitors Weretin these groups. A The'President's Round Table of Kansas City, Mo., comprising the presidents and secretaries of every civic club in Kansas City, paid the camp a Visit on August l'8. Governors of states, officers of the American Legion, mayors of cities, clergymen and professors from various universities and colleges, were among the guests entertained at the camp. 1 mfs . , . ls 1,4 - .
