-ZGIFULLQHIFACKIQQ James C. Dilday 4 BEFORE MILITARY TRAINING AFTER To James C. Dilday, I8 year-old son of lklr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Dilday, Monticello, Arkansas, goes the credit of being the very first student to arrive at the Citizen's Military Training Camp. Although the camp did not oflicially open until Wednesday, August I, young Dilday arrived on Sunday, July 29. A I Wanted to be sure and get here on time, he said, in explaining his early arrival, and besides I Wanted to get started on my military training. Dilday stated that he had never had any military training before. He was assigned to Company B , Did he make good? Ask his commanding officer, Capt. R. I. Coe. THEY TOO SERVE, WHO STAY HOME AND COOK! Miss Kelly was always on hand to tell us how to spell difficult words, give us some sage advice, plan THE DANCE, and distribute those priceless tickets. We all hope that she'll be at the camp next year. just to show you what others think of our hostess, read the following article taken from the Leavenworth Times, August 19: Miss Elizabeth Kelly, official hostess at the Citizens' Military Training Cam is p7 one of the most successful hostesses in any of the training camps in the United States L . . ast year she was at the camp at Fort Snelling, Minn., and was one ofthe three hostesses to be chosen for work again this season. She was given Fort Leavenworth which has about the largest camp in the country. Miss Kelly, who is a young woman of charming personal- ity, had great experience in work du ' h . I 'T ring t e war nterested for some time before America entered the war in welfare work, she was highly prepared for the arduous work she encount- ered in France, Italy, Belgium and Germany. Miss Kelly is a resident of NewYork City and is a member of the national society of Women Gverseas Workers and also a member of the same society of New York and Minneapolis. uAfter her work here is completed Miss Kelly will return to New York.
