The Lincolnian Literary Society is one of the two existing literary societies of our High School. It is composed of half of the student body. At the beginning of the school year 1925-26 the Lincolnians framed and adopted their constitution. It provided for officers, namely, a Presi- dent, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer, which shall be chosen each semester. Accordingly, the society elected these officers, their choice being those of the preceding year, Carl Baylor, President, Beulah Richoz, Vice- Presidentg and Paul Brenner, Secretary-Treasurer. Under the constitu- tion the society was required to select a member of the Faculty for their advisor. The Lincolnians chose Miss Hahn. Once each month the members of the Lincolnian Society gave a pro- gram. The purpose of these programs was to generate a true spirit of ap- preciation and a desire to enter literary activities. A few weeks before the Annual Inter-Society Contest, however, these programs were given up so that the members could prepare themselves for the preliminary try-outs in declamation, oration, and extemporaneous speaking which would determine who was the most competent to represent the society in this contest. At the beginning of the second semester the Lincolnians elected new officers. Blanche Ward received the office of President, Rona Dryden, Vice- Presidentg and Opal Judy, Secretary-Treasurer. 1926 IPAGE 341
