We were under the supervision of Mr. Sullivan, Principal, Miss Hahn and Miss Hoyt. We entered our Sophmore year with the class membership greatly decreased by the leaving of Helen Hasselbring, Dorothy Norton, Nettie Scharlach, Martha Winger, Mary Spelbring, Harry Markwalder, Wilbert Seggebruch, Lester Boylan, Edward Eberhart and Louis Hofbauer. I We had emerged from the pupa stage at last, glad to pass on our repu- tation as green to the new Freshies. The Sophomore class furnished two men on the first team in basket- ball. It easily won the school championship this year by defeating the Freshmen and Juniors. A Boys' Glee Club was organized this year containing three Sophomores. A number of the Sophomores took part in the chorus. During the second semester Roy Harweger and Leona Steiner left school and Frances Gibbons moved away. Bessie York, however came to us from Danville High which left us sixteen students by the end of the year. Literary societies Were organized and contests were held with the re- sult that the school representative in extempore was a Sophomore. The faculty for this class which was gradually becoming the most active, was Mr. Sullivan, Miss Hahn and Miss Perisho. We had persistently endured the hardships of the Sophomores and had reached the highway which made us Juniors. In looking over our ranks as Juniors we found that all had returned to school. Our faculty remained the same except for the replacement of Mrs. Guingrich for Miss Perisho. Baseball was a popular sport and almost every Junior turned out. The chief sport of the school was basketball. The Junior men made up the first team entirely. They put up a good fight in all the games caus- ing their opponents to recognize their quality. The Junior athletes occupied the main positions in track and field work. The Boys' Glee Club, which was largely made up of Juniors, had be- come an important factor of the musical element. They were in demand at entertainments and had become quite popular. N The first Girls' Glee Club was organized during our Junior year in which several of the girls participated. 1926 LPAGE 191
