The old frame building whose walls have echoed the footsteps of so many school children has now been re- leased from duty and replaced by the two modern brick buildings. 7 THE PAST The first high school in Cisne opened in September 1919 in a building that had once been a blacksmith shop. Later, arrange- ments were made with the grade school that the high school might share its building. The building pictured here then housed both the high school and the grade school until the fall of 1948 when the high school moved into its present home. '1'he grades, this year, moved into their new structure. THE PRESENT year has seen the launching of man-made satellites both in Russia and in America. We real- ize that a thorough education is even more essential today than in the past and that what we learn here at CCHS will have much bearing upon our future. with the curriculum THE FUTURE will always hold for us memories of our friends and teachers of our school days with a special thought for that very first teacher. To us who started grade school in Cisne, that special first-grade teacher was MRS. CORINNE SWEENEY Mrs. Sweeney has long been associated with Cisne schools, having been a mem- ber of the first high school class in 1919-1920 and, until her retirement last spring, a teacher in the grade school. She was Cisne's teacher of the year for 1957. With this brief sketch of the past and high hopes for the future, we are happy to record for you in this book the happenings of the school year 1957-1958
