We appreciate the work of the Advanced Commerce Class in helping us prepare this book. 2776 We want to thank each and every one who con- tributed to the production of this '54 Echo and es- pecially to the sponsor, Mrs. Webster, for her efforts in making this a remembrance which you will value in the years to come more than you do now. We are proud to have such a fine group of students with which to work and trust that our teaching will teach you to behave as you do now behave. One of the most valuable results of education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not. This, we believe, is one of the first lessons to be learned and it is probably one of the last lessons to be learned thoroughly. As the year 1954 has finally rolled around, the Seniors are looking forward to graduation with great pride. The memories of different occasions will long be with the Seniors at C.C.H.S. Witnesses: PAT EIKLEBERRY CATHERINE MURPHY ISeaIJ SENIOR CLASS-I954 2 X T 1 yy 1 ' 7 'ill ' f ,Qi tx llllf X X endofz CAROL GALBRIATH, Senior class president for '54 at Cisne High, became a great huntress. One day while hunting in the Arctic she came upon a great cave. While looking inside she found the ruins of an old book of an old prophet. She took the book outside in the sunlight and started to read the dim yet clear writing. The contents were about the old school chums of hers at Cisne. ANNA ALLISON was such a good typist in school she got a job with a big company in New York and was making loads of money when she sud- denly fell in love with the boss and they were married and had twelve children. RICHARD ASH was such a good actor he went into the movie business after graduation. He got a iob as stunt man in a movie with Marilyn Monroe. She liked him so much she fell madly in love with him and they are married now and are both directing movies. BILL ATTEBERRY has now fulfilled his life long am- bition of becoming a high diver. He has iust completed the most difficult dive of them all, he dives off a ladder into a teacup of water, but he had to give it up because it cost too much for teacups. BEVERLY BOSLEY being very light and graceful on her feet became a dancing teacher. Her specialty was the rumba and she was so good she decided she would go on Tour. She was very successful in every country except Africa. She arrived in the i960's and here it is the year 2000 and she has not been heard from yet, maybe her going to the cannibal part of Africa could have something to do with it. DELORES BURGESS, the queen of Xenia decided she pw would make a name for herself so she went to Hollywood as a model. She was so beautiful she won the highest honor that she could in beauty, the ianitors picked her Miss Dustmop of 1999. SHIRLEY BURGESS has done what she has always wanted to do, she married a daredevil. She al- ways rides with him and waves the others away, when asked why she did that she said she had a hard enough time getting him that she was going to keep him nice and healthy. CLIFTON BURTON, the little giant of Cisne, is now one of the best athletes in the country. He is playing with the Globetrotters, he has some trouble with the black wearing off and the eleva- tor shoes getting in the way but he has mastered them very well. NORMA CHAPMAN went to Alaska after graduation to be a saleswoman. She has a rather easy iob though for she is selling French bathing suits to the Eskimos. Some people thought she was a little off, but when she came back a millionaire everyone wanted to be a bathing suit salesman. KAREN CLARK ioined the army and studied to be a nurse. After her training, she was sent to the Hawaiian Islands where she met a very good looking native and fell in love with him. On the day before the wedding she took Ploegarminaeo fever and died. PATTY EIKLEBERRY, went to the big city to get a iob. After hunting for a week she finally found the iob she was looking for, she became the assistant traffic cop. When the traffic signal failed to work she iust stood in the middle of the street and directed the traffic with her eyes and Seam 65444 Fu JACK FEARN was the No. 1 man in a certain girl's life in school, so when he got out he married her and settled down to raising a family and also to improve his cattle herd. He is now the richest cattle owner in the state of Illinois. GENE FLEXTER went to the U. of I. after graduation, where he became a football player. He worked so hard and became so good that he made the All-American three years in a row. After graduat- ing from college he came back to Cisne to form a football team of his own. HAROLD GIBSON, the great salesman of Cisne was a great success after graduation. He got a iob selling magazines for the Curtis Publishing Com- pany. He has an interesting iob, he is selling subscriptions for Esquire to the Eskimos. WILLIAM GILL had such curly hair, that when he graduated he decided to help others have curly hair. He now is a fashionable hair designer in Hollywood. He made so much money that he decided to start another Pink Poodle cafe, but he had to give it up for the fashion turned to green. EVA GREIFZU, the pride and ioy of Mt. Erie, is now a great actress in Hollywood. She is a double for Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, and Za Za Gabor, but she had to give it up for she was doing better acting than they were themselves. CHARLES HAMNER after his experiences with the underworld is married to a very beautiful girl and has a nice family. He also has a good job which disturbed some of us-a iob with the police force-but as the old saying goes every man to his own choice. BETTY HENSON after her dull life in school has a new and exciting life. She has become the top girl iockey. She had a little trouble at first with her riding posture but the saddle-makers took care of that for her. She is the only iockey who rides side-saddle. She rides for the Never Win Stables. HAROLD HILLIARD, the tall dark and handsome lad of Cisne High, is now one of the richest men in the world. He was digging a well one day and found an oil pool that produces 100,000 barrels an hour. He thought of getting marriea but de- cided he was having too much fun spending his money on all of the girls to settle down with any one of them. ELMO HUBBLE, Cisne's No. 1 athlete, is now coach- ing at the U. of I. They have not lost a ball game in ten years, he is coach, timekeeper, scorekeeper, referee, and player. Everyone likes him so much that when he wanted to retire they went on strike not having school for a week. He is still there at the remarkable age of 125. LL JOHNSON didn't surprise us much for he still has his old '36 Ford and it is still running strong. He likes old cars so much that he is now the owner of one of the biggest used car lots in the United States. But it all came easy to Bill for he married the daughter of the former owner of the lot. JIM KIGER, after learning to drive fast around C.C. H.S., has now started driving a midget auto racer at Indianapolis. He always liked to drive fast and this was his chance. He would zoom around those curves doing 150 m.p.h. and think nothing of it. He is now in a wheel chair for he didn't happen to make one of those curves one day. Scuba 66444 pw CLARA BELL LEE was a very quiet person in school so when she graduated everyone thought .she would get a nice easy iob where it was peaceful, but she has one of the noisiest iobs there is, she is helping test atomic weapons in the Mexican desert. She said she didn't mind the noise be- cause she had stocked up on cotton and she al- ways had some in her ear. RONALD LINDSEY the motorcycle fiend of Cisne has now done the impossible. He has ridden his little machine to the top of Mt. Everest. He said he had quite a bit of trouble with the gasoline evaporating as he went higher and higher up the mountain. The only solution he could come up with was to burn non-evaporating Anti-Freeze in his craft. ALBERT LOSS had a mind of two people so he be- came a scientist when he left Cisne. He studied for years and years before he really discovered something worthwhile. He now has a pill that you can take to make the work you are doing easier and not make you so tired while doing it. He did all right until the public wanted him to invent a pill so you would not have to work at all. DELLA MCCLASKEY liked school so much and was such a good athlete that she decided to become a P.E. teacher. After graduating from college she came back to Cisne to teach. With her she brought a new game for the students to play. The name of the game was Pogo ball. lt was similar to basketball except instead of bouncing the ball you bounced oh the ball itself. lt was a very fine game but they had to give it up for too many people were getting broken arms and legs. MARJORIE MCCRACKEN became a stenographer and was so good that the President asked her to work for him personally. She was doing very fine until his wife caught her on his lap, and she threw her out of the house. After that she went to work for the Vice President and made a go of it. WILMA MCREYNOLDS went to a beauty school after graduation. When she finished her training she set up a shop of her own. She did all right for a few years but now she is not doing much business. Her twelve girls take up all her timel. By the time she gets all of their hair done it is time to do them all over again. LANORA MATTOX, after working in lsom's cafe for 30 years, is now a big cafe owner herself. She owns a large chain of Italian Cafes and serves some of the most delicious spaghetti you ever ate. But she had to give it up for they found that she was putting string in the spaghetti. CATHERINE MURPHY was a very intelligent person in school. Einstein heard of her intelligence and hired her as his secretary. The iob didn't last long however, for she was learning more about his theory than he was himself. JIM ORR the tame game hunter of Cisne is now a guide in the deep iungles of Africa. He was very good at his work. Everyone wanted him as a guide until one day he led a party into the Zaxmwkpyna village and they never came back. NOVELLA PARKER went to nursing school, where she became a registered nurse. She is now work- ing in the Fairfield Hospital. She was getting along very fine until one day she got the ether bottle and the blood plasma bottle mixed. The patient is still asleep. senden 1444 pww RADEAN PENNINGTON decided to explore Mars. SHELBY SHANNON was always looking for a hus- When she got there she discovered the people were similiar to the people on earth, however, the people there didn't breath air, but drank it. They breathed water. She was getting along fine with the people until one of them shut her water off. EVELYN PIERSON who was very bashful in high school turned out to be a great Opera singer on T.V. The reason for her fine voice is the bird seed she has been eating. She was doing fine until the company went out of business. Now she is home making her own bird seed and feeding it to her pet birds instead of eating it herself. GLENDA REID was the about town girl in her prime and youth and everyone expected her to become a lady wrestler or a mountain climber, but she surprised us all. She is now an old maid. At the sweet old age of IO6 all she does is sit around in her rocking chair and play with her 540 cats and 73 dogs. ELANOR REID the brain of Cisne is now employed by the U. S. Government. They took a copy of her brain and made a machine to match it so that now when there is a big piblem in the government the machine and Elanor can put their heads together and figure it out perfectly. BETTY SHANNON was a good athlete in school. She has now formed a girls' basketball team and is now touring the country over. Her team was so good that she hasn't been beaten in ten years. She thought her team so good that they have started to play men now and they still haven't been beaten, but it could be their new uniforms. They are French style. band in school but could never find one to suit her. One day while at the race track she met a fine Southern gentleman. She didn't think much of it at the time but when he won SIO0,000,000 dollars she became interested. They are now mar- ried and live in Kentucky on a horse ranch. FRANCIS SHELTON was the Perry Como of Cisne High. His voice was as sweet as the birds that sing in the morning. After graduation he signed on with Arthur Godfrey to sing on his morning program. He did very well until one day he lost his voice completely but Arthur thought so much of him that he kept him on the show. He is now testing tea. HAROLD SMITH was always a good dancer in school. He became so good that he thought he could put Dan Dailey out of business. He nearly did it but he was not quite as good as he thought he was but he is very close to Dan at this time for he gave Harold a job with the show. He sweeps the dance floor off every night. MAX SMITH always wanted to be a farmer after graduation from school. He was doing very well till one day he went into a big city where he met a lot of pretty girls. Max was not heard from for some IO or I5 years. When he was seen his wife and I0 boys were with him in his horse and buggy. Max could never forget the farm. LEON SPICER has become the Romeo of Cisne He is one of the most popular actors with the teen-agers. He has iust begun a new movie called Too Young to Cut the Catsup. Everyone thinks he is great because he is iust like Clark Gable. Seam 61444 Pwplecq DONALD STOPHER was always trying to figure out some way to make things easier and has finally succeeded. He invented a machine that you can put a note in and what it says the machine does it. Don is no longer with us for his wife put an innocent note in that said drop dead. PEGGY THOMAS has become one of the greatest dancers of our time. She became one of the best ballet dancers in the nation until her unfortunate accident. She broke her big toe and had to give it up. She is now teaching a new dance where you do the ballet on your heels. SHIRLEY VANDAVEER, who always liked to ride the bus to school every day now has a iob driving the school bus to Cisne High. She is so well liked that at the age of 99 she is still driving the same old bus to school. SHIRLEY VANGILDER, who never liked to do much walking is now the postwoman for Chicago. She does it all by herself in a half a day. One day she was half an hour late in getting the mail to everyone so the people put in a complaint about her. When asked the reason for being late she said she had sore feet. The city council couldn't believe it so they fired her. BOB WALTERS, the guy who always thought so much of street lights is now a big business man. He is manufacturing-yep, you guessed it-street lights. They are all different colors so that if someone does not like one color they can park under another. JACKIE WILLIAMS who always liked to drive his little green Chevie down gravel roads is now one of the biggest Chevrolet dealers. He sells the new '67 model and some older ones too. He made his fortune very fast and then settled down to enioy married life with his wife and I3 kids. BOB WILSON is now an old man who has a million dollars and does not know what to do with it. He got his million by saving the labels off of the Peter Pan peanut butter iars and selling them back to the company for a big price. When the business went bankrupt he settled down to spend his money but now he has no one to spend it on. AUDREY WOLFE the little giant of Cisne is now one of the leading women wrestlers in the nation. She started out in the lightweight division but got so good that she is now moving up and finally she wrestled the heavyweight champion of the world and she beat her. CHARLES ZERKEL the man with the motorcycle with a mind is now one of the best riders in the nation. He has won more races than any other person alive today. He has invented a new kind of motor- cycle, it has three wheels instead of just two. It has one in the back and two in the front. He says it gives him better balance but after he had a wreck on it he has retired to spend his money.
