Strawser, D. Banks, E. Tomlinson, J. Schraub, Mr. Bennett. Varsity Football 1954 Tiger football squad squeezed out a season record of two wins and six losses. This is, by far, the poorest record that the Tigers have compiled in many a season. This year they missed the S.C.O.L. by a mere touchdown. It was due to the loss of the tra- ditional Washington C. H. game by a score of 6-0. No doubt this year's season record was due to the lack of experience on the most part, as there were very few seniors on the squad. Next year's returning lettermen will be about twenty-five as compared to this year's five. Losing the first two games, the Tigers got off to a bad start. The first of these defeats went to Athens when they won by a score of 26-6, and the next to the powerful Linden- McKinley eleven when they handed the local team a 33-18 defeat. Loss of these games, however, did not neces- sarily point to a bad season since the boys knew that they were short on experience and had to have more game practice. We found out later on in the season that they iust did not have it. Although the first two games proved to be disappointments to the Tigers, the next two proved to be thrillers. The next two games were both S. C. O. L. games at home. The first victory that the Tigers boasted was over the Wilmington Hurricanes by a 13-0 score. Next Friday the Tigers played host to the Hillsboro Indians and bowled them over by a score of 34-0, which put them into first place in the S. C. O. L. St. Charles of Columbus was the next team they met on their home ground. This was the Homecoming g a m e and the Circleville-St. Charles rivalry was resumed. A Circleville team has never defeated the capitol city boys. This year was no exception, for the score board read, Visitors 20 , C. H. S. l9 , at the game's end. The next game was with the Greenfield Mc- Clain squad. The loss of this game by a score of 35-7 resulted in the Tiger's dropping from undisputed first place to a tie for first. This was a four-way tie. Delaware was the next foe of the Red and Black. The end result of this contest was the Roundtowners' coming out on the short end of a 20-O score.
