Physical Education Building February 5, 1955, marked the first anniver- sary of the dedication of the Circleville High School Physical Education Building. There are 19,782 square feet of floor space, with the regulation high school playing floor -84 feet long and 50 feet wide. Seating capacity is approximately 2,000 with balcony floors providing ample space for various other forms of activities. The building is used 'lor the following pur- poses: physical education classes for both boys and girls, extra-curricular programs which in- clude intramural basketball, inter-scholastic basketball, and hygiene classes for both boys and girls. ln addition to the gymnasium part of the building, there is a band and muslc room, ln- structor's room, an equipment room, and two practice rooms. ln order to preserve the floor, the Junior- Senior Prom is the only dance permitted with street shoes. All other dances are llmited to sock hops. Because the auditorium is inadequate in seating capacity, commencement exercises are in the gym.
