Library Staff Jane Wallace, Patsy Neff, Miss Moeller, Weta Mae Liesl, Sandy McAlister, Beverly Thornton. Upon entering the portal of our noteworthy alma mater, a visitor finds himself directly be- side the official residence of Mr. George A. Hartman, superintendent of our city schools. While the visitor is taking a hurried inventory of the various filing cabinets and business ma- chinery occupying his outer office, he will, no doubt, hear the persistent clicking of a type- writer and, after further investigation, find Miss Mary Ellen Rader, an indefatigable secretary, busily working on a final report. Mr. Hartman's office is the center of the Circleville school sys- tem which includes the main building, grades 8-12, Corwin, Atwater, Franklin, High Street, and Walnut elementary schools. Mr. Walter Denman, a well-known figure around school is the attendance officer. The superintendent's office serves as his headquarters also. To the Circleville High students, Mr. Hartman is not a formidable figure but an amicable friend and adviser. They feel he works beyond the call of duty many times for the welfare of his students. Now to continue the leisurely trip through the Circleville High halls. Mr. Cress' office is the next in line and here are Mary Cassidy, a senior, and Sally Curry, a junior, assisting Mr. Cress in his clerical duties. As the clerk of the Board of Education, Mr. Cress performs many duties as varied as financial and business reports to aiding prom committees in decorating. After leaving the preceding office the visitor ascends a staircase and finds himself on the third floor. If he continues down the hall, he will pass the office of Mr. Henry, our high school principal. Rita Edgington and Jo Ann Merriman, both iuniors, rush past, on their way to deliver absence slips. Inside, Mary Ann Mc- Clure and Sandra Valentine, senior class mem- bers, busily prepare exams and last minute graduation schedules. During the year, an of- fice girls' duties consist of everything from handing out bandaids and merthiolate. Besides fulfilling his many office duties, Mr. Henry acts as a cordial consultant for the high school stu- dents and their problems. Just around the corner is the school library which contains a large number of educational and instructive volumes. Miss Gretchen Moller supervises there and has five students as aides. Assisting this year are Weta Mae Leist, Patsy Neff, Beverly Thornton, Jane Wallace, all sen- iors, and Sandy McAlister, a iunior. Their work is varied but it consists mainly of cataloging and book preparation. Through the use of the library, students can further their education in higher fields. And so ends the tour ofthe offices of Circle- ville's school system and particularly of the high school.
