The Washington Court House Clrclevllle grid warfare was resumed In the following game Some Washington fans were expecting the Blue Lion to devour the Tiger completely But they were disappointed fortunately But for a safety in the first period the game was even all the way and the final score read Washing n C H 9 Circlevllle 7 This was a a fought though clean game and the Tiger de fense agaln showed Its mettle by llmltlng the one lone touchdown and It was scored on a kickoff return and not from scrimmage Not only the game was lost but also an era In Clrclevllle High Schools history was lost forever too It was an era ln which the Red and Black racked up 15 straight SCOL vlc torles and three championships untll the e luctant Tigers stubbornly gave up the throne But king Tiger went down fighting to the last At the Booster Club football banquet bag Bill Gillis was selected Most Valuable Player for his outstanding play at tackle during the season Also at the banquet Jerry Rooney was announced honorary captain for this years team Three boys were selected for the SCOL honor team this year They were Blll Gillis at tackle Charlie Johnson at end and Jerry Rooney at quarterback Dave Coffland was selected on the second team at end and halfbacks Jerry Pritchard and Paul Hlll received honorable mention While the boys are receiving most of the ll et Il be sold here and now ta the coaches deserve great praise for producing the team that they did with what material was at hand Head coach Steve Brudzlnskl and his very capable assistant Tom Bennett have been turning out championship teams In the last three years But when time came that they had to scrape the barrel they did not blame the boys but lust worked all the harder with what they had The trademark of the Circle vllle football team In the last few years has been cooperation which boiled down means that the boys worked together This IS really a great tribute to any coach In Itself for It means that he has molded a team lt has been said that a champion never comes back After losing that first game so horribly to Holy Rosary and losing three regulars which forced several boys to play all the game with no rest they responded like champions lf these boys were not champions on paper at least they were champions In heart l.
