uncls Mar Qrcliestra At the beginning of the year Mr Truman Eberly our dIrector of music was rather puzzled about the future of the orchestra The shortage of stringed Instruments such as the vIolIn made Il quite difficult to produce the deslred results However today we must reallze that ours IS not the only school facing this situation Or chestra members enloy playing the music of the masters and after all that lS the Important part Practices are held every Tuesday and Thurs day In the auditorium the seventh period Dur Ing these rehearsals the orchestra practiced the numbers to be presented for the Iunlor and senior class plays It also partlclpated In the Sprlng MUSIC Festlval along with Junior and lVlIxe lf one happened into the lower hall on any morning of the school week he would hear the Mixed Chorus warming up for a perlod of practice and learning When the group of 75 members meet they n only sng but at the same time learn some of the fundamental facts of music The Senior Bands and the Mixed Chorus Then of course Commencement was the final perform ance of the year Larry Thornton Sally Cochran Donna Mitch ell Bobby McClure Betty McClure and Warren Lelst represented C H S at South Central Reglon Orchestra FestIval In ChIllIcothe on January l2 Larry Thornton Betty McClure Sally Cochran Warren Lelst Charles Maglll and Anne Downing were participants In the The orchestra has enloyed a year of hard work and study and no doubt each member feels a little richer In musical knowledge through his partlclpatlon ln this organlzahon Chorus results of the hard work were gratifying and pleaslng to them and theIr audlences ln the fall they participated In the annual Pumpkin Show They also presented a program for the Parent Teachers Association An annual event for the choral group was the Christmas Vesper Service . .
