SlllE3lINlllIl4DlIR 4l3flIl3lIEBlIEB Glfilltollllllb Th1s year was a banner one fol the G1FlS Glee Club One hundred and twenty f1ve g1rls reported so It was necessary to d1v1de them 1nto two sectlons The Freshman g1rls comprxsed the Jun1or Glee Club whlle the three othel classes formed the Senlor Club Thls group chose as Its offlcers Dorothy AVIS pres1dent Mary Crltes v1ce pres1dent Medreth Bach treasurer and Lou1se Helwagen secretary The comblned clubs presented an attractlve Chr1stmas program and led the un1son carol slnglng around the Stooge Club s Chr1stmas tree set up m the lower hall of the school the week before Chr1st mas In May the elghth grade presented a Good Wlll program 1n whlch songs and dances from forelgn countrles were dramat1zed The Senxor Glee Club prov1ded the vocal accompanlment for the entertalnment The g1rls took part ln the Commencement program 1n June They owe a great deal to M1ss MarJor1e PTlQSt who gave much tlme and pat1ence to the1r 1nstruct1on and met w1th them two per1ods every week She deserves much credlt for un1t1ng the members 1nto a lovely vocal un1t MARY NEWMYER 38 QlIllLllINlllIl1DlIR 4l?fllLJlIl3lIli5 4l3llblllllIl?v C1rclev1lle hlgh schools newest organ1zat1on 1S the Junlor Glee Club It was organlzed at the beg1nn1ng of the school term of 1936 Thls group IS compr1sed of forty members from the freshman class se lected after tryouts The offlcers elected for the club are Betty Cooper pres1dent Sara Sha fer v1ce pres1dent Joanne Conyers secretary Regma Thornton treasurer and Mary Jane Bowers and Jean Kmney l1brar1ans MISS Marjorle Prlest IS the mus1c d1rector of th1s club The Glee Club gave a Chrlstmas carol servxce on December 21 Th1S program 1ncluded O Come All Ye Fa1thful Sllent Nlght Joy to the World O L1ttle Town of Bethlehem The Flrst Noel It Came Upon a Mldmght Clear and Away In A Manger Several members took part m the pantomxme whlch the Semor Glee Club presented at Chrlstmas A steak roast and a p1cn1c were the soclal funct1ons wh1ch the g1rls en Joy ed thls year The planxst for the club was Eleanol McD1ll RUTH C1 ARK '39 A K Q 'Inu '7!I , ,, ,W . . , - . . v . . . . .
