SllEBNlllflDlIR Ggfllllllillfn llRllEQSllE5llRVllE9S Th1s year the Semor Gxrl Reserves have worked hard and enyoyed an except1onally good year M1ss Alberta Grosvenor was selected as thelr ad v1ser at the beg1nn1ng of the year Rosemary Hammel served as presldent Harr1et McGath v1ce pres1dent Mary Ellen Maxey treasurer and Dorothy Av1s secretary These offxcers were chosen at the end of the 1936 school year The club gave the f1rst socxal event of the year a gxrl take a boy leap year dance Th1s was greatly enJoyed by all espec1ally the boys fthe cheap skatesj At Chr1stmas tlme several needy famllxes were cared for by the club and some of the l1ttle k1dd1es recelved dolls dressed by the g1rls Dur xng the devastat1ng flood Wh1Ch swept our sectxon of the country the g1rls contrlbuted to the Red Cross The Sen1or Grrl Reserves ente1ta1ned the Jun1or Gxrl Reserves at a val cntlne party g1ven at the h1gh school bu1ld1ng The g1rls enjoyed a pot luck supper followed by a short mus1cal program The club IS d1v1ded 1nto two act1v1ty groups the Hand1craft and Var1ety groups These d1v1s1ons wh1ch have off1cers of the1r own hold soc1al meet xngs at the homes of the g1rls once every two weeks Followmg the usual custom the g1rls entertalned the1r mothers at a banquet ln May at the St Phxllps Par1sh House MARY NEWMYER 38 QllllllllINlllll1DllR fll?fllUlRlllQ llRllE5SlIE5lIRVlIliBS Every Wednesday afternoon saw th1rty two freshman and sophomore g1rls attlred 1n the Off1C1al Glrl Reserve umform of a whlte sh1rt and a blue skxrt scurrylng to room 12 for an xnterestlng and worthwh1le meet1ng Interest ran h1gh throughout the whole year and the club has d1st1ngu1sh ed 1tself 1n a number of useful act1v1t1es that lt has attempted and successfully carrled out It has been the alm of the club to sponsor a b1g event each month Among these may be l1sted the sale of tlCketS for the productxon P1nocch1o a dance 1n cooperatlon w1th the Semor G1rl Reserves a jxtney lunch a Chr1stmas party for small ch1ldren a chapel program a Valentlne tea an entertamment honor1ng the Semor G1rl Reserves and the annual mother daughter banquet The g1rls voted at the beg1nn1ng of the year to attend church IH a body once a month Th1s plan was followed the entlre year For the f1rst tlme IH the hlstorv of the orgamzatlon the most actlve and representatwe g1rls voted upon by the cabmet were presented a Glrl Reserve rmg by the club The offxcers serv1ng th1s year were Medreth Bach presldent Ruth Clark uce presldent Mary Hays secxetary treasurer and M1ss Elma Rams adv1ser RUTH CLARK K K8 f,, ga C Q' ,.-,Q,,M,, ,O Sc V. - .1 A 1 Q - A l 1. 1. . . .A tw L . . .' .
