lIl3llNP llflllgllfllllll GP llRfXllDlIE5 The enrollment IH the exghth grade th1S year was only 105 as compared wlth 131 last year Th1s made It posslble to go back to the use of the three class system A B and C Every other gradlng perxod some students were changed from one class to another Thus each student mxght fxnd the class ln wh1ch he could do h1s best work The class presented a rather unlque chapel program rn the fall a Pol1t1cal Rally under the d1rect1on of Mr Kenneth Lea The students represented the var1ous pol1t1cal partles A touch of humor was added Wlth the 1mpersonat1on of Lum and Abner candldates of the Demo publ1can party Th1s year the Buckeye organ1zat1on was completely changed Under the new reglme an entlre change 1n staff was made each s1x weeks thus g1v1ng each pup1l an opportunlty for cub report mg The proceeds from the sale of the Buckeye were used to buy books for both the e1ghth grade and the hlgh school l1bra11es Mlss Margaret Rooney xs advlser for th1s news organ The eighth grade showed exceptxonal mterest and ab1l1ty ln athletlcs Under the gu1d1ng hand of Mr Landrum the boys defeated the seventh grade 1n football to the tune of 43 to 6 Ap prox1mately 25 boys from th1S grade turned out for sprxng foot a Th1s class also defeated the seventh grade cubs ID basketball Coach Landrum expects about 10 of next years freshmen to make the reserve team of 37 and 38 Under the d1rect1on of MISS Rooney fxve debates were held ber could gaxn experlence 1n th1s fleld The exghth grade won a debate agalnst the freshmen on the questxon Resolted That The N R A Should Be Renewed In th1s class of 41 we see varslty debators IH embryo JOHN RANKIN 37 W r Zulu Z :M-A -7' ' JU . . . - Q f b 11. ,.
