SOMETHING OF VALUE We, the Class of 1958, feel that education is truly ‘tSomething of Value,’’ Education is the symbol of hope and confidence in the future of mankind, Education must be of value in solving the problems we face; the problem of achieving world peace, proper respect for human brother- hood, personal happiness, and political, social, and economic welfare, Education will lead the way to a better world. We believe there is value in the idea that human beings can direct their destinies and that education has a significant part to play in that direction. We believe the ultimate value of living is happiness. Lord Chesterfield expressed our feelings when he said, ‘‘Knowledge is a comfortable and necessary retreat and shelter for us in an advancedage, and ifwe donot plantit while young, it will give us no shade when we grow old,”
