We the Class of °57 respectfully dedicate this yearbook, Moments to Remember, to three of the school’s most respected and well-liked ladies, Mrs, Carr, Mrs. Mudge, and Mrs. Maricle, They have dedicated their lives to the bettering of ours. During their long careers they have helped many of us to better appreciate school and have en- couraged us to seek success. We sincerely thank you for many pleasant moments to remember, These are our advisors, Mrs. Youngs and Mr. Dodge, who through all our high school years with patience and understanding have helped us with our social activities as well as preparing us for-the problems we have to meet in years to come, We hope that they will never forget us. ‘We know we shall never forget them as they are a great part of our ‘‘Moments to Remember’’, To The Class of 1957 As you are heading down the last lap of the trip through Cincinnatus Central School, you are probably doing more serious thinking than you have done in the past years of your life. Are you asking yourself the question, ‘‘Where do we go fromhere?’’? Are you making plans for that break that comes between school and the life of an adult? We hope that your school life is helping you in making the important decisions which confront you. We hope that you have gained much through the study of the many subjects you have taken, We hope that through your association with members of the faculty and your fellow students you have developed the desire and ‘‘know how’’ to cooperate with others. Finally we hope that because of your many experiences you will be well qualified to live a successful and happy life. The Board of Education and the faculty of this school wish you the ‘‘best.”” Ethelyn Gardner, Secretary; George Newkirk, Clerk; George Dodge, Vice Principal; Chester Lacy, Dis- trict Superintendent; Evelyn Clark, Grade Consultant. No more band and orchestra rehearsals-hope next year’s tympani player enjoys play- ing as much as I have. Cheer- leading too .... Junior Red Cross was a lot of work but fun Pl always remember our plays, the senior ball, and singing in the angel chorus .... gee, I don’t want to leave, KARL BERGER Coming to a new school in your Junior year | isn’t easy but neither is coming to a new country, I've made a lot of friends though. . .. Any noon hour I’m not reading, I’m probably playing in intramurals and boy did they get rough! They didn’t have anything like that in Germany . . .. There’s one thing I especially enjoy--class meetings. These Seniors really know how to argue! ARDEN BROWN Had a good time in school but I had bad days too--like Election Day when Ike won.... S’pose I'll always be remembered as an ‘‘Ardent Democrat.”’ Guess there is not much I can do about it, Had some | pretty good times in F,F.A, and the Ag classes. Mr. | Dodge’ll certainly know we’re gone, CATHERINE BROWN Well, school will leave a lot of pleasant memories for me, It doesn’t really seem like this can be my last year, I’ve had so many good times being in intramurals, F.H.A., Honor Society, and Nurses’ Club, Gosh, that homework.... especially those Geometry assignments .... thought I’d never see them through .... being prompter for the Junior Play was fun, [Ill remember so many things.... LINDA BROWN I imagine Phil will keep me busy enough so I won’t have time to miss school. . .. not that I really want to you know. Gee, all the fun I had cheerleading .... and all those music activities. It’ll seem good not to have to worry about homework though but now that grad- uation’s just around the corner, I'll be sorry to leave, RONALD BUSH I guess I'll never be able to get to special class meetings now. I seem to have missed all of them, It was more important to go overtown wasn’t it Pat? I had a good time in F,F,A, but we learned a lot too, Sure were lots of chances to run my truck around--like getting Christmas trees for the senior ball, I was glad to do it though. Jeepers, it won’t be long now.... HOWARD COMFORT Jeepers, I never thought I’d see the day when I'd be sorry to leave school. .. . I don’t know though, gee! ll kinda miss it. . ..F.F.A. and Boys’ Chorus were fun and profitable too. I won’t ever forget 8th periods in our homeroom. Wonder if Mrs. Youngs will remember ? GENE CROSS Oh, come on now!.... Boy, did I have luck hunting deer this year, I got two of them, didn’t I Rosie? Band, orchestra, and chorus were a lot of fun even if it was trying for Mr, Wilbur. Drivers’ Ed, was a hair raising experience especially with Charlotte at the wheel GRACE DAVIS Graduation’s almost here--gosh, that means Cincy school days are nearly over. Music kept me busy. I enjoyed All-State and Music Council, Being secretary of the Student Senate, Honor Society, and class plus yearbook editor kept me hopping. I’ll never forget my American Legion Oratorical Contest Speech, being the distraught queen in our play, being on the Senior Ball Court and the Citizenship Contest, Ill have moments to remember. RICHARD DODGE ‘ Oh, sugar Jim! I only got an eight that time!’’ I’m sure go- ing to miss Rifle Club and the rest of the sports I participated in.... Mr. Wilbur! I hope you have better luck convincing your future students to remember their lessons and practice, But Idid enjoy all my music activities, and we had a ball those two years at All-State. Last summer at Boys’ State I learned a lot about government and met a lot of fine boys. Being president of Honor Society and Music Council kept me busy this last year, I guess I will really miss Cincy High. MARY DOWNS Music has played a great part in my school life.... band, orchestra, girl’s chorus, Music Council and All-State a ede chad thne wonderful times I had. . . . the recital the Wilbur’s helped me to put on last year. This year as class secretary has kept me writing most of the time but somehow it all went so fast. Now as I look back through the years, I realize how much I'll have to remember. HOWARD FOX Gee! Where have these last four years gone? Chorus for two years- just to get my voice in tip top shape, Then Ag, too! Took that just to please the cows! Typing! Boy, that was a slow subject--at least it was for me, Had fun playing intramurals though, and Driver Ed, will be helpful in the future years. I sure won’t forget these last four years] JAMES FOX Riflery--what shooting, bull’s eyes? Not all the time, It sure helped my hunting, I enjoyed those tennis matches-it gave me a chance to blow off steam, Band and chorus have been real fun. Fred and I really blew those basses in band, Ill never forget the Junior Play and the kidding I took in Physics about how Rachel and I acted. The Citizen- ship Conference and vice-president of the Honor Society have kept me busy but it has been worthwhile. There are lots of moments I can remember, NANCY FRINK “Mr. Wilbur, I forgot my violin!’’ Five and one-half years trying to remember to bring my violin, but I still haven’t won the battle. Oh well, we had a good time anyway, and if I forgot my violin I could still play string bass. Mr. Wilbur wasn’t rid of me yet; he had me in chorus and music council, too. Nurses’ Club kept me busy and I enjoyed it tremendously, I'll miss it all so much, but totellyou a secret I'll still have these moments to remember DONALD FULLER Say, Lowell, how about racing home tonight, but no sho rt cuts, Seems school has gone just as fast as Lowell and I, Ag, kept me busy for four years, working on the school fair, planting trees, and judging cattle, Oh yes, those noon hour intramurals, what a riot we had playing those underclassmen, Well Lowell!!! We sure have a lot of moments to remember, BETTY HACKETT It sure has been swell to be able to participate in somany music activities, Music has played such an important part in my school life-- girls’ chorus, mixed chorus, or- chestra and those last two years ofsingingat All-State, I enjoyed sing- ing the angel's part in the Christmas Pageant. Ihave also been music director in F.H. A. Next year hope to prepare for a nursing career. Gee! ! CHARLOTTE HAGENBERGER Being class treasurer for three years really kept me busy.... wonder what I’ll do without all those orchestra rehearsals, not to mention Honor Society, yearbook meetings, Junior Plays, and girls’ chorus, Ill never forget our ‘‘Moonlight Rendezvous Prom’’....I know [ll really miss good old Cincy. OLGA KEMAK Well, so I’m about to graduate . ... I'll have all these years to look back on . . . . what will it be like without F.H.A. work, class meetings, and shorthand!! Ohthose Junior Plays! Got enough powder inmyhair to make me look old! One of my fondest memories will be thetimeI was chosen to attend the State F.H.A. Convention, Now that graduation’s here--I’m not so anxious to leave, ANNE KRISCHE Decorating for the prom and theSenior Ball... . more fun! Sing- ing in girls’ and mixed choruses gave me time to relax a little from magazine selling and all the music programs and activities. Those 8th period business classes were a riot--we didn’t have to go to study hall when we went to those, High school’s been the greatest. ... Who sayS we want to graduate? The fun's just beginning. RONALD LANDERS Gosh, [ll really miss all the girls and fellows I always clowned around with. I’ll miss allthesports too, especially baseball. I know the teachers thought I fooled around too much in study hall, but IthinkI did it half the time just to make them mad..... I guess school hasn’t really been so bad. ELEANOR LOCKE Brother! I sure had my share of seeing teachers and scheduling pictures for the yearbook, F.H.A. work took up most of my time all the offices Iheld . ... seemed like I was always on food committees enjoyed it though. Guess we had enough punch the night of the Senior Ball! [ll really miss school. JEAN MARKS I’ve had good times these last few years but it will seem good to earn my Own money, Those French classes have been especially fun and worth while too. Being in Nurses’ Club and F,H.-A, for four years provided memorable experiences. Doris and I are most always together, When you look for one, you can always find the other. NORMAN MARICLE School has been a awful lot of fun and !ve made some pretty good memories, Guess one of these memories was that goofy Junior Play I was in, ‘‘Six Who Pass While the Lentils Boil.’ I was the head chef-- I boiled the lentils!! Boys’ chorus and mixed chorus were fun but I was never able to sing anything better thana screech in the tenor section. It was nice being on the Senior Ball court with all those pretty girls. I guess they are one thing I’ll miss when I leave this place in June. HAROLD MARVIN ‘ Now Clyde, you know Lowell and I don’t go to Syracuse to trade cars every month,’’ These school years have really been a lot of fun . ... driving to Pennsylvania for haircuts . ... radios that wouldn’t play . ... what times when the car breaks down on Clyde and me! Allin all, P11 miss school next year but I'll be busy getting a job to Support--my car ?--Well, we'll see, RACHEL MCKEE What a busy senior year! Holding office in the F,H,A. as sec- retary, president, and state presi- dent is real work; a lot can begain- ed, too... . especially being F.F.A, chapter sweetheart. I thought I would wear my feet off standing on hall duty as treasurer and vice- president of Student Senate. ... Those wild rides in the Driver Training car were nerve-racking but those, too, were part of the fun, Junior Prom Princess .... Ill never forget that evening and the crowning, IRIS MC GRATH Gosh, I’ve had a lot of good experiences in high school, Playing Mis’ Trot in the Junior Plays was morefun, I won’t forget homemaking classes either .... thedinners we prepared....chorus.... contest . «+ . SO many places we sang... . School’s been tops. BARBARA PAYNE I guess I’ve had as much fun in school as any girl... .Ire- member the physics class; there were 10 boys and 1 girl (me). I was never sure why I took that course; maybe ‘‘10-1’’ had some- thing to do with it, eh? I never did learn much about the physical laws. Singing in girls’ chorus was loads of fun and it gave me a good voice to talk with in study hall; I needed that of course, Well, you have to say that I’ve made plenty of moments to remember. DAVIB RANDALL When I came from South Otselic three years ago, everybody thought I was a nice, quiet, hard- working kid, Ha! I’m afraid they were a little surprised ....I never thought I liked school but I’ll .sure miss it; I’ll miss the fellas, and the girls too, but they probably won’t miss me. I don’t know how Mr. Dodge will be able to teach Agriculture 3 and4 without us senior boys . ... Mr. Sleight will be lost, too, when he doesn’t find me stand- in the halls blocking traffic. DORIS ROSE It’s hard to believe that allmy good times are at an end--school times anyway. First in Marathon then in Cincy--being in F,H.A. for six years was a riot! I loved being president of the Nurses’ Club, Barb and I had loads of fun(?) in short- hand--talk wasn’t short though, Wonder what next year has instore. NANCY RIFFANACHT Gee! Those four years went by fast .... It seems impossible that next year I won’t be able to carry home a cheerleading uniform or sing in the mixed and girls’ choruses. Ill miss not being able to re- hearse for another Junior Play--in, fact, lalmost forgot the milkmaid’s wooden pail THAT night. And our dreamy Junior Prom--I thought I would never finish sprinkling blue sparkle on ‘‘Moonlight Rendezvous !’’ JOHN SANDY Hey, who took my ping-pong paddle? I need that if I want to win the championship! Those formulas in chemistry--they almost conquered me. Boy, being class president sure kept me busy. At least .I always had a volunteer when I wanted one, didn’t I, Janice? I’m sure going to miss basketball, I guess I'll miss school after all, especially one part of it. JANICE SMALL All my years in high school and I haven’t grown an inch! Ill probably be the shortest girl in college but I guess I can handle the boys (I’ve handled John pretty well, don’t you think?) Ill sure miss the fun we had in cheerleading, Honor Society, dance band, and All- State, Deer hunting is fun but why won’t the darn critters stand still? I'll miss all the swell times, friends, and teachers, but [ll always have fond memories of school, RAMON WHITE ‘‘Oh hen!’’ That was a beautiful shot, but it didn’t goin. I’m sure going to miss all the sports. Hope you have better teams in the future, Mr, Springer. Finishing homework during chorus and trying to sing was quite a job; Mr. Wilbur never did catch me. Not seeing Jeanie everyday is going to mean more trips to Taylor for the Chrysler and me, Oh well, I won’t mind. Being president of the Student Senate, the school fair, and the F.F.A, sure kept me busy. Cincy High’s gym was beautiful the night of our Moonlight Rendezous Prom when Rachel and I reigned as Princess and Prince, I guess I really will miss walking the halls of Cincy High. ‘‘Oh hen, I don’t want to graduate!’’ sr0nerg rv rer RE PTS RL CEPEERPEN EOIN ROAM SATSOP SARS SR IN KATHLEEN VILLECCO BARBARA TORREY | The music office... . I’m sure going to miss school and all the kids, but one thing for certain I won’t miss the homework, Some nights you could hardly find us seniors under the stacks of books we carried home. . . . And those basketball games--I don’t know whether we got more hoarse at the game or on the trip to and from the game. Wow, those noon hour intra- murals--it’s a wonder we came out alive after all that hitting and push- ing. Well, high schoolsurehas been fun for me. LOWELL WHEELOCK Gee whiz, a man of few words and less deeds, so what will I say? Sure had a dandy time at the State F,F,A, convention at Perry. Boy, I really got my daily exercise and cramps from those tennis matches --not to mention typing class, They both were a little tiring, but I guess it was worth it, It sure was a lot of fun batting that poor ball back and forth. Well, I'll probably miss school next year, but it sure will be a pleasure to graduate. CLYDE YOCUM They call me the sweet kid of the senior class. Mrs. Youngs never did like to have me keep all that candy in my desk... I mever was any asset in study hall, reading maga- zines and all, but I did singing in boys’ chorus. . .Home- work!!! Now there's a subject I'd rather not talk about but I'm an authority on how to get out of it. . .I guess next year I won't have any teachers to bother, at least I hope I grad- uate. I'll miss school though. LEWIS YOUNG What a ball this has been! I sure have given Mr. Wilbur a hard time, especially in band and or- chestra when I just happened to drop the drumsticks during a rest. Basketball and soccer were fun and track kept me in shape for running that eight miles home. . .They gave me the part of a jester in the Junior Play. . .wonder why? I'll bet you I'll have fun on my Wash- ington trip--poor Washington!!! JOSEPH RAYMOND Heck, no more of those vacations from school to go deer hunting. . .what a nusiance homework was, it kept me away from my car and other worthwhile things. . . Boy's Cho- rus wasn't bad. . .Soccer Practice. . .Man, what a workout! Think I'll miss the good old days after all. They Stand Behind Us.
