Recovermg from our soclal blunders, we emerged mn '45 beatxng the well worn path through school act1v1t1es and Room 208 Duss King was our leader, assisted by Coach Spnnger Several romances blossomed that year, while Dottxe Russell played Cupxd w1th a party and all Bev Dunham saved her pennies for repairs on the cexling downstaxrs after she made a 3 point landmg on the floor III French class one day How about that Tottie 'P It seems that the Sophs were a lxttle lazy that year, even to the extent of havxng a sxt down strxke ln English Class A beautlfully decorated back wall in Room 208 was scrubbed clean by little 1nnocents who carned a grudge weeks afterward agamst the gullty Senlors A p1cn1c at L11y Lake completed that year, and we went skxppmg mto Room 205 as 'Those Iunxors Arlene Gardner was our presldent, and Mrs Totman our advisor A Thanksgxvmg Dance whxch proved to be the first successful round and square dance in years, encour aged us June Dussy, Tank, and R1ch declare that decoratmg was most fun The excite ment really heaped h1gh when the soda pop dlsappeared To ra1se money we trled sellmg personalized post cards Who could dream that monograms are so confusing! The junlor Senior Picnic left us all exhausted Taughannock Falls was mvaded forc 1bly that day Nothing can compare with those speed boat r1des, right Blondy ? Three one act plays presented that March won us renown Marilou and Rich shocked the multxtudes, wh1le june and Dussy hissed Aren t we devlls ? We won t say your act was natural as the rest, Dottxe, but there IS a t1me and a place for everything Bev Dun ham deserved an Oscar for her portrayal of M1nerva Peabody When September 1947 rolled aroxmd we were on our way back to 208 Mr Taylor shuddered to see us return, because he was to become our advlsor We made ablg open mg for our last year by sponsoring a dance Mary Alice had most fun that night, holdmg hands with the guests CWe know you only stamped their hands, Maryll What happened to you that night Sandy? November brought us the long awa1ted Semor Play Play rehearsal was dull? That's not the way I heard xt from the cast Will any senior ever forget the lover s leap, the Wolf Girl, an insplratlon, horoscopes, or especially the dance of the roarmg machlnes It seems the older you get the more forgetful, and It lS hard to get to school on txme too One member of our fair class made lt a pomt to be at least three minutes late every morning We don't like to mention names 1n sltuatlons l1ke these, because I don't lxke to hurt your feelmgs, MHIIIOUI THE LIONS ROAR, a great lmprovement over papers in the past, was successfully handled once a month by Ioanle, and displayed the talents of our writers and typists, Amber, Sadie, and Bev THE LION offered a little more complicatlon, right Seniors? Especially w1th vanish ing articles and finances The most fun in the preparation of THE LION was having Sen 1or portraits taken Don t you just love to ride elevators, Dussy ? Cookie recently has acqulred a violent dxslike for bananas, I wonder why ? Last but not least on May 14th we would hit the front page with our Junior Prom. The girls in their colorful gowns and the boys in their Sunday best spending a happy time on a gleaming floor would be in order. As we look to the day when we must close the door on our junior year, we feel that we have made an excellent approach to our scholastic goal and view the coming senior year with con- fidence and eagerness. As a final word, we wish to thank Miss June Bodach for her exception- ally fine work as our advisor during the current year. 14 Standing Mr Reed, Lee, LaCe1le, Hammond Swmdon, Peak, Turner Parks Seated Rear Harvey, Fry Newton, Tennant, Ufford, Momz, Sandy Aylesworth Seated Center Baldwin, Smith, Brewer, Lockwood, Kemak Monell, Sergent, Sawyer Seated Front Gergen, Auwarter, Peak, Cooper, Brown, Loomis, Greene Allen ww 0402 Zwea FTER glancing over various curricular and extra curricular records for the year, it becomes quite apparent that the Sophomore Class is making out well Their freshman year was rather hectic, but the Fall of '47 brought them onto the beam '1950 is represented in every phase of school life Athletically they have boys prom agricultural department, while fairer members of the class are active in the Future Home makers Organization, in cheerleading and in the Dramat1cs and Photography Clubs At the Fall election Everett Tennant was chosen president of the class, Ann Lockwood vice president, Marilyn Baldwm, secretary, Harold Newton, treasurer, and Lois Peak re porter Shirley Smith and Lawrence Ufford were chosen to serve on the Student Senate As the main undertaking of the year the class sold red pennants bearmg CINCY in white letters This novel idea proved very successful With two years of achievement behind them, havmg admirably maintained their footing on another rung of the educational ladder, the members of the class of 1950 are looking forward to even more prosperous and eventful days as juniors To Mr Ben Reed the class extends its thanks for his interest and cooperation during the 1947 1948 school year 15 : , ' , .
