The range and scope of the snipes are many and varied: M Division is con- cerned with the smooth operation of our main propulsion machineryg B. Division insures the proper flow of steam from our four boilersg E Division maintains and controls our electric al power and equipment through- out every space aboard shipg A Division sees to it that our Winches, launches, refrigeration gear, and anyother auxiliary machinery are kept in superb conditiong R Division divides its time between the delicate tasks of cargo handling and damage control procedures. Each of the preceding could be subdivid- ed into a maze of assorted tasks. It is enough to say that any member of the depart- ment must be well versed in a variety of skills.
