-nz, F-i0m0EOQi10w8ApfRudewu The ambition of the home economics class at CHS was to prepare students for their lives in the future. This was achieved by Nlrs. Baughman, who taught sewing, cooking and family living. They fashioned various items, such as pajamas, skirts, dresses, pant suits, jumpers, etc. These were made in var- ious materials, stitches, and sewing techniques. The types of fabrics they worked with were plaids, stripes and flowers that had various textures of cotton, denim, velvet, cordu- roy, and satins. Another household skill vitally important in life was cooking. ln this part of the class they practiced the prepara- tion of meats, pastries and vegetables in many different ways. Laura Cassidy and Ellen Gilbert look excited as they pin patterns to their material. Pearlene Tackett precisely cuts out her pattern as she wonders how it will look after she finishes. Debbie Reed has a rough time marking darts with a pizza cutter. Nancy Tipton tries to help Karen Konger fix her machine.
