It was difficult to be peaceful and to understand others when so many changes were taking place, molding the lives of people everywhere. Probably never before have teenagers witnessed so many na- tional incidents that affected both their present and future lives. But somehow, despite all the misgivings of life, the students of Churubusco High School were able to grasp their portionsof life and hang on. We forced ourselves to car- ry on the customs and way of life expected of high schoollstudents. For even though the outside world seemed so distant, it was in reality, very near and with the pace of the world speeding up so fast, we found ourselves creating, A Time For Us. Eagles Qubmerge Lions at Homecoming 411 sf' -7-iii.. g f . . 'F 'S uv. ' At Left-Homecoming Court for 1970-71. Queen, Anne Fleicke, Senior attendants, Debbie Gaff, and Cherri Mag- gart, Junior attendant: Susan Dailey, Sophomore attendant, Kathi Salesman, Freshman attendant, Donna Fry. The 1970-71 Homecoming was a huge success in spite of the weather. Rain put a damper on the parade, but could do nothing to dampen the spirit of the Eagles. Had you been one of the rain-soaked fans, you would have felt the excitement as John Long caught a pass from Steve Cassidy for a touchdown and as Gary Byrd kicked the ball 48 yards for a field goal. The 9-O shutout wasn't the only excitement. At halftime Anne Fieicke was crowned queen and presented with red roses. ep Sessions Build up Eagle Qpirii A gymnasium full of kids, resonant noise, and a squad of cheerleaders was the setting of a CHS pep session. The cheerleaders worked up spirit with the students before each big eagle game. Various clubs also participated in the pep sessions with an original skit or two. During the year we sponsored a lVlr. Legs contest with Terry Papenbrock victorious. Two pep rallies were held before Carroll football game and before the sectional. All in all, a CHS pep session was a must for the Eagle teams. Above-Clifford Guest performs his ventriloquist BCT. At left-The great violinist Fiubinoff gave a concert while touring the area. ssemblies Begin Where Studies Ends Every year the Student Council chooses three assembly programs. Those chosen to present their vari- ous abilities were Ed Schetter, Bob Larson, and Clifford Guest. Ed Schetter, a yoga specialist, showed some of his exercises and told of his vegetarian diet. The fun came when he had Steve Boggs, Curt Bair, and Mel Egolf try some of the easier exercises. At right-Members of the Flandom Sam- ple performed at CHS while touring the country. Square, round, silver and gold immed glasses returned from the 9th century to correct the eyesight f in students. Skirts went from the high to the opular midi and maxi lengths. A revised dress code brought on ll the latest in slacks and pant uits, much to the distress of some. Self-knitted sweater vests and onchos became more popular. Al- ost any style, shape, or size could e found in the halls and lassrooms. t Right-One of the oldest style in lasses, wire rims, is updated by Ned Golf Donna Wilkins, and Bill Russell. 'no nw Fads and Fashions Swing With Flair l Above-Marilyn Rider and Marsha Wilson take advantage of the new dress code by wearing slacks. At Left-Long vests, gaucho pants, and midi skirts are only a few of the fads worn by Becky Lock, Diane Sheets, and Renee Arehart. W - - k W: lv. L Af, . 'N 395. 1 1 :L-lkfwl K. .-A,..1, V Ll... -1.
