Class Prophecy In the year 1976 I started on a tour of the United States. Driving down the main street in Churchville, I found myself stopping in front of the school house. I stepped just inside of the door and of all people, I saw Ronnie Hevener, the principal, who brought back old memories. We began talking about old school days. He told me that Ruby Jean Altizer was teaching Algebra there, and that she was mar- ried to Richard East. When I saw Ruby she told me that Carolyn Armstrong, now Mrs. Robert Nickols, was in Churchville for the weekend, staying at the Byrd Tourist Home. I went down to the Tourist Home, and Donald greeted me. As we were talking about good old school days and watching TV, we saw Odell Huffer on This Is Your Life. He told about being the star basketball player at MadisonSquare Garden. Julian White also came on as aMagician. He looked just as he did in the Senior Play Me and My Shadow. As I traveled on I noticed that I had better get some gas. So I stopped at the first station I saw. To my surprise Virgil Armstrong appeared. He owned the station. The name was Corky's Station. As I was driving along listening to the radio, I heard a very familiar voice. Mrs. Fred Lee Lovegrove, the former Ramona Burgandine was introducedg she was explaining how to raise turkeys. I was riding along and saw a very beautiful stone house and a small child playing in the yard. It looked like Eunice Graham, but it was her child. Eunice is married to Glenn Peters. From there I went on to Washington. I went in a small restaurant, where I saw Paul Botkin jerking sodas. He told me he learned to jerk sodas at the T-Bone-Tooter. Paul said that Bobby Lessely and Leland Buzzard were in the Air Force and that they were home for a furlough. As I was drinking a coke, Josephine Lange and a small boy came over and spoke to me. She said that she was married to Kenneth Puckett. Josephine said that Lacy Hevener had a huge lumber company and was doing a very good business. As I walked down main street, not paying any attention to where I was going, I bumped into a young man. He was Jim Taliaferro, who was the manager of a large summer resort called The Roost. Jim said that Shirley Sheffer was married to Eugene Moyers, and that they were happily married and had an attractive daughter. After touring over Washington, I went through Bridgewater, where I saw a very familiar girl walking across the campus. It was Shirley Huffer, who was the basketball coach. She said that Mildred Sandy had completed her nurse training and is head nurse at Charlottesville. Later a large supply truck drove up and the driver asked me how to get to Pine Rung it was Tommy Griffin. He was to take over the Trucking Company. I just remembered I had an important appointment in Staunton. As I parked in front of the Insurance Building I saw Doris Siron. She had completed her secretarial training and had an office job there. She said that Ruby Botkin and Page Southard were secre- taries to Navy Officers. On my way home I saw Curtis Wimer. He owned a prosperous farm near Staunton. I surely was glad to talk and hear about all of my school pals who graduated with me in the class of 1953. -12..
