Board of Education Serving as a member on the Board of Education is one of the most im- portant positions that a citizen can hold in the community. With the cooperation and support of the community, the Board can make steady progress in the advancement of education. The members of the Board serve without pay and attend the twelve regular meetings, plus the many special ones. The Board members have to have a knowledge of technical work. Being able to make decisions in the light of what the people want and the students need is essential in the workings of the Board. Plans for two new schools are under way. An elementary school at Chestnut Ridge and Chili Avenue, with room for ten classes and room to expand, is hoped to be completed by September 1, 1959. A senior high school at Buffalo Road, south of the Fairbanks Road Elementary School, with capacity for four htuidred pupils and room for expansion, up to one thousand, will be ready by January, 1960. Time schedules, of course, will depend on weather, labor strikes, and availability of materials. All possible will be done to avoid double sessions in 1959 - 60. is if ' il Wm X5 , MR. C. E.
