-SE Building Progress an Q .fx i 45549547 1 1 1 . rlyiii . if lryr 1 1 ,9 9 V 2 2 V During the year that has since last we wrote of Building Progress for CREST our new elementary school an Fairbanks Road has been put in operation. By next September it will be filled to capacity, This past summer' saw a proposition to add to the present high school building and to start a new elementary school on the Chestnut Ridge Site, passed by a majority of record vote of the people of ,the district. As this is written fNovember 20, 19565 the board of eilucation is waiting for some 7LAlbany decisions before taking the next step. ,, Z One thing is very certain: the end of our needs for increased housing is not yet sight. Our school census for 1956 shows a 1470 increase C283 childrenj over that of 1955. Qbur en- rollment mayffibe expected to continue to increase by at least 100 pupils per year for the next 5 several yea rsh. 2 Thisf situation is full of serious significance for the voters and taxpayers of our district but the ones most directly concerned are the children who will be affected by the sub-standard measures we will be forced to adopt before our educational obligations are properly met. ff ,, N it X E E Y: mmm 6
