His friendly disposition and homespun philosophy have seen us through countless problems of school life. 4 1 N9 f7f .-f Nus s Qi' i v i i we ii 5 i x 5 k,V.k in K K e 1 O Mrs. Kirby, with much gratitude and many heart felt wishes we sincerely dedicate our 1952. Crest. For two years she has been our faithful friend and advisor. She has held a personal interest in each one and her advice and encouragement have been invaluable to our class. In this small way we want to show our appreciation for this unfailing loyalty she has displayed to each one of us. 5 After discussing several possible themes, the Crest staff finally chose the Mexican theme. We made this choice not only because it is different and out of the ordinary, but be- cause Mexico, our closest neighbor, is very gay and interesting country. We all hope that you will enjoy our 1952 Crest. 511618521117-IL KW!!! Mrs. Widener Demaris Girven 'Rl x .1 THE YEARBOOK STAFF BIG sigh of relief was heard coming from the yearbook staff one day in February when the 1952 Crest ' was finally completed and sent to press. After many months of hard work by all and such questions as, What is a master sheet? or, What is a layout? , our yearbook was finally ready for publication. The art work was expertly carried out by Bill Dennis and Marge Vail, with help from the Junior Art editor, Sandra Sage. Our literary department was under the able direction of Audrey Baker, with Marlene Brandt and the Juniors, Carol Way, Donna Hutchings, and Jack Kreck- man lending a hand. Charlie Daycock and his staff were kept very busy when it came time to take the yearbook pictures. After several hectic days, however, -we all man- aged to survive. Had it not been for the work of two of our members, Bill Holley and Eugene Adams, our yearbook would not be in existence, for they went out and got the ads. They wish the best of luck next year to Donald Girven Jr. and Barb Foos, on the Advertisement Staff. Our typists, Joyce Dickens and Betty Johnson, who were lent a helping hand by the Juniors, Hazel Bater, Nellie Howe, Nancy Johnson, and Junior-editor Doris Roach were kept busy typing the material and meeting deadlines. We would like to thank all those who helped make this year's Crest a suc- cess. Our advisor, Mrs. Widener, and Mr. Taylor and Mrs. Kirbywho also gave US 3 helping hand, deserve our most sincere thanks. Thank you all, Demaris Girven, EDITOR 6 I 7 WHERE WE LIVE ' ACH year after the census is taken, Sefxora Taylor finds her- . . . . 1 S- self with a tedxous Job on her hands. Z4 BARBARA SUTTON H74-1189 Y , J NDER their very able homeroom supervisor, Mr. Hickox, the Freshmen got off to a flying start. They began by choosing their class officers as follows: Presi dent, William Holley, Vice-President, Stuart Williams, Secretary, Carol Beeman and Treasurer, Audrey Liese. As a money making project they presented a movie Scrooge . To end a perfect year, they had their class picnic. Silly Sophomores ? Not them! With Mrs. Kelly as homeroom advisor, Charles Daycock as President, Harry Leathersich as Vice-President, Audrey Baker, Secre- tary and Sue Benson, Treasurer, how could they miss ? To make money they held a round and square dance on St. Patrick's Day and a movie. Their Junior year was full of fun and surprises. Mrs. Kirby became their ad- visor, with Barbara Sutton as President, Jim Colbert as Vice-President, Demaris Girven Secretary and Harry Leathersich, Treasurer. To raise money they had two baked food sales, a round and square dance, The Twirp Twirl , and a movie. Their Junior rings were very different and original with the new C.C.C.S. Crest. Their Junior Prom The Cinderella Ball was a great success with Audrey Liese chosen as queen and Audrey Baker, Barbara Merriam, Carol Beeman and Pat Dewey as alternates. The Junior-Senior Picnic was exhausting, as usual, but loads of fun. They went to Niagara Falls, visited Fort Niagara, and spent all their money at Crystal Beach. With their very faithful Mrs. Kirby as class advisor their Senior year began with a bang. Soon after school began they chose their class officers as follows: Melvyn Maas, President, Charles Daycock, Vice-President, Audrey Baker, Secretary, and Harry Leathersich, Treasurer. Their Senior Play We Shook the Family Tree was a real sensation. The Sleightime Shuffle their Christmas round and square dance, also proved to be a great success. They are planning now, and looking forward to, their Senior Ball, Junior- Senior Picnic and of course graduation. It has been a very full four years--full of fun, friendships, and memories they will never forget. Z5 Vnorrv N the year 1975 Mrs. Kirby hobbles into the fortune teller's tent to find the answer to her last question. Quick! Tell me what my little darlings of 1952 are doing. Gazing into her crystal ball, this is the story the fortune teller revealed: Eugene Adams is the head of a perfume factory with his assistants, Betty John- son and Martha Hall, as secretaries and Kenny Beaman, advertising agent. With such a thriving business Eugene has Audrey Liese, Dorothy Schuyler, and Barb Sutton as singing commerc ialists. Bill Holley is their most successful traveling salesman with his most insistent manner. Right next door to the perfume factory is Sherman's Bakery, with Dwight baking cream puffs and Joyce as saleswoman, secretary, and sweet little wife. The Pawn Shop nearby is not the most respectable but the proprietor, Glenn Everett, we hear, gets along quite well with his bets on the side. Demaris Girven is the head ballerina at Eastman with Tom Scheiber as manager and Marge Vail as masseuse. Oh yes, the jailhouse is very well handled by Harold Pimm. Barbara Merriam is the wife of some rich man who manufactures Mercurys. Their millionaire friends, Marlene Brandt and her husband Melvyn Maas, are kept quite busy with their Cadillacs, race tracks, bubble gum factory and their clinic for people with extra large ears. Sue Benson's reducing pills are the sensation of the world and she is well on her way to live in splendor the rest of her life. Way down in Texas, we hear Jerry Henry is doing quite well on the sale of Hoppy food. Charlie Daycock is the cellist in the Rochester Symphonic Orchestra with Corrine Hill as top page turner. Beverly Longbine and Bill Dennis are assistants to Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. This was no surprise to Mrs. Kirbyg she guessed this would happen be- fore they graduated. Harry Leathersich is the main mattress tester at Max Pies in Rochester. Mrs. Kirby also predicted this for Harry before he graduated. The main milkmaid at the Embling Dairy is Gertrude Neal. Bill Craig and Jim Colbert are the main acts in Joe Chitwood's Dare Devils act. Who ever would have guessed it! Carol Beeman has taken over Mr. Potter's restaurant and has Ronnie Better- idge as host because of his debonair manner. Audrey Baker has turned out to be another Gertrude Ederle, breaking the world's record by swimming the English Channel in a matter of seconds. Poor nervous old Mrs. Kirby-the shock is too great for her. The fortune teller, Miss Welch, calls her chauffeur and he takes her to her house where she will be confined for several days. With five wins and one loss they beat Penfield in a thriller 5-4 to cop the C League championship. In the playoffs, we were awarded the victory in a tie game with Bergen, and went on to lose a heartbreaker to Canaseraga. Through- out the season, our boys really demonstrated their playing ability and we're mighty proud of each and every one of them. 79 x ga 7 ' A L , .1 , V ,JU v, X ,A .Q MX x r .i sf R Q X 2 Y f G 8 gg X imrxx 'U xg 1 5 f Xa , 5 fa 'fa 14 JL , fm. .X 6 0 an WW! Each one did his best and they certainly deserve plenty of credit, as does Coach Van Lare, who worked so untiringly with them. Our J.V. Churchville X LEG!! I ill CYHE Junior Varsity also has six mem- bers, four of which are new. Their uniforms consist of black skirts and white sweaters with an orange C, and orange dickies. They also participated in the flag presentation. They are largely respon- sible for inspiring more interest in the Junior Varsity games. l 8 82 Ansari: GUI VERY snappy and capable cheerlead- ing team, consisting of 6 girls, was chosen after much competition. New uniforms of white corduroy skirts with two C' s on them, white turtle- neck sweaters with the 83 name embroidered on them, and black ties were chosen. Besides leading the cheers, the cheerleaders presented a formal flag ceremony during the time between the games. 44 la Um vines: C E seldom hear of those fellows who don't play on the team, but they are as much a part of it as are the players. These are the boys who keep the records and check the equipment to see that it is ready for each game. To coach's helpers goes the hard work without the glory, but without them we couldn't very well get along. I X 84 1 IU!
