Thanksgiving Assembly Many students participated in our Annual Thanksgiving Assembly. There was a wide variety of Chorale readings, psalms, prayers, poems, and songs. We also heard the story of the first Thanksgiving which gave us the true spirit for the Thanksgiving holidays. Christmas Assembly

Pay Assemblies Robert T. Edgar: iiConquest into Space and the Search for Other Planets was the topic of our first pay assembly. Mr. Edgar took us on our first trip to outer space. Ray F. Mansalvatge: From Runner Up to Champion. Mr. Mansalvatge was an inspiring young speaker. Pruth McFarlin: Mr. McFarlin was the first pro- fessional musician to entertain us this year. He is a radio and concert tenor--a great singer with soul and character in his voice. Modern Percussion Trio: James Dutton. Head of Percussion Department of the American Conserva- tory of Music was the leader of the group and brought our pay assemblies to an end. This group is not pictured.

Special Assemblies The centennial of Abraham Lincoln's election as President of the Uhited States was celebrated by a special assembly held in the auditorium. Under the supervision of Miss Douglas. members of the ninth grade English Class gave an oratotial of Lincoln's life. Our school had the priviledge of hearing two instrumental groups this past winter. The Knox- Galesburg Symphony Orchestra presented a demonstration of their instruments and the technique of a symphony orchestra. The Galesburg Senior High School Band gave a program of marches and varied concert music.
