O Make Mine Music was the theme of the Senior Ball, the first formal dance of the year. Chosen from the senior class to reign over the festivities were Anna Lawson and George Isett. Above, the King and Queen lead the Grand March. On the left, Anna and George pose for a minute before being crowned. it' r' ,gef- Janice Palludan. Treasurer: Kaaren Murdock, Secretaryg George Isett V108 Presl dent: and Bill Gaines, President. embed The seniors amazed themselves and the world this year when they decided to hccome a quiet, well-mannered, law-abiding, demerit-fearing class. This change of face was not that they lost their enthusiasm so marked in their younger years. but that they grew up and became dignified overnight. The highly successful Senior Ball highlighted the fall semester. The Seniors chose Make Mine Musicw for their theme and George Isett and Anna Lawson for their King and Queen. Because many members of the class of 1952 have been together since they entered the first grade, the class is unusually well organized. Now class meetings are devoted to plans for graduation exercises, for scholarship opportunities, and for plans when graduation day rolls around. The halls of CCHS will be strangely quiet when the class of 1952 has joined the ranks of graduates. Ihicisiiiix liism' 1 J l llX l. 12. Theirs was the responsibility of putting on the Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet to pay the school,s last respects to the senior class. Determined to make this year's banquet the best ever, the class has planned many money making schemes, including a drawing and the annual Junior Frolic. The Junior assembly, arranged by Miss Johns, featured the grand-daughters of this year's basketball team and brought down the house with laughter and applause. ln their spare time this class made plans for sweeping the student body elections and dominating the school in their senior year. Class sponsors are Miss Jenny Johns and Mrs. Ruth Gilbert. ? Secretary: Tom Lamb. President: and Ray Trease, Vice President. Freshmen found their initiation not nearly as dreadful as they had been led to believe it would be. With painted faces and smeared hair, each freshman was required to bow to the assembled students and introduce himself. From that point on. high school became fun for the first year class. The student body greeted the Frosh with the annual Frosh Reception. Eager to pay back their social obligations. the freshmen entertained the other classes at a dance in March. Talent in the freshman class came to light at the Freshman assembly. Assisting the freshmen with their plans all year were Miss Nygren, Miss Gibbs, and Mr. Winters. The freshman class this year certainly didnit lack ability. This class boasts several outstanding athletes and even members in Alpha Lambda. The newest thing in CCHS, music depart- ment is a dance band. It was just started this year so hasnlt had time to make many ap- pearances. This group did manage to play for one dance this spring. One thing for sure, they really deserve a hand. BONNIE ALLEN Accompanist .gi Standing: jacquie Williams. Gail Dudley. Patsy Vrenon. lliann David. Yvonne Mathews, Lenore Paul, Nancy Robinson, Lois Roozen, Mr. Winters, Wineva Alley. Ruth Herrera, Sharon Cerney, Agnes Williams. Wanda Fisk. Seated: Ht-rrilyn Fisk, Mary Lou Smitten, Shirley Taylor, Joann Bowers, Kathleen Hughes. and Roberta lioden. 66 This group is so good they get pats on the hack from their advisor, Mr. Winters. A pop- ular numher on all concert programs, the fame of this singing group spread fast in the community. The showing they made at the music festival proved that the school's faith in them was not misplaced. Practicing faithfully second periods, members of the Clee Club worked hard to perfect their sing- ing. Getting better with each appearance are Mr. Winters' male singers. The first male chorus since Mr. Fifield's very successful FFA quartet, the boys this year are an experimental group. Practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the boys have gained in musical ability and stage presence during the year.
