Even back when Jim Dalbey was a fresh- man he showed signs of having a pleasing personality and ability to get ahead. Not only did Jim do well in his stud- ies, but he is one of our best athletes. Football and basketball weren't enough to do, so Jim went out for track. He also be- longs to Old English F. We feel Jim is deserving and worthy of winning achievement and we offer our 1ongratulations. Jean Crook is the girl who is never too busy to accompany the freshman har- monica player or the girls' glee club. Her piano playing has been a part of every assembly program during her all too short three and a halt' years in high school. As assistant animal editor and vice president of this and that, she has been the worker behind many a project. The good wishes of her classmates and the fac- ulty go with her to college next fall, FAME Popularity The pride of our school is Norma Bruner. This popular brunette senior is admired by all, for her ability to make friends and her way with the faculty. Norma is in Alpha Lambda and wears an Old English F to prove it. She also serves the senior class as secretary. Norma has left part of her sunshine and good humor with all of us and every- one feels she is worthy of the honor of being the most popular girl. A great big smile and Hi ya, old kid accompany Chuck Renfro where ever he goes. Even as a freshman, his personality began to show through and gained momentum as he made his way through his high school years. Now Chuck is a high and mighty sen- ior and his election as student body presi- dent gave proof of his ability as well as his popularity. Chuck also distinguished himself in the sports line, playing foot- ball and basketball. r Q' l Prom mean I I L NIMI' h xx ls 1l111x111 to ILILII fu 11111111 11111 th1 111111111 81111111 V111111 N1111111 dexeuex the h1111 1 th N 11 H1016 4111 Iallem 1111 11ot1111lx 1 1 1 11111111.11 1 lllk 11111 thmugr 1 11 Q' 4' MARLENE PLUMMER Amwst There' JU IOR 4 F ,f HP ami Q5 f 7 74 Ex elyn Aim tlong Mlrllyn Bexrymm Adnan Blxsx F1 mk Bxovxmnb Bert COIHU Lyle deB1aga Ann1 DuQt1n Cheitel FCIIQI Geox e Foxbush bene Foxbush DIXIE F1111 'VIam1e Gaxuson 41' nl N Ill! The purpose of Tri-S is just what the name implies-Sportsmanship, Spirit. Service. They have held assemblies to promote spirit and sports- manship for both the football and basketball games and are of great ser- vice to the school in that way. Tri-S introduced to the school the first emblem for the Greenwave , the school has ever had. The emblem shows a huge wave with a fierce face in the center. The emblem is pictured on the green and white pen- nants which Tri-S sold for basketball. Thev also sponsored the colorful drill team which performed for some of the basketball games. Under the direction of Miss Johns, Tri-S sponsored one of the biggest events of the year-the Varnival Dance. However, under the direction of Allen Fifield. our new director, they have come up smiling to do better than best. During the football season the band was as faithful as the football boys and showed up at each game to give out with a little music. Rallies were made peppier by this bunch of band members who in spite of flat tires played at each and every one. Santa Claus was given a snappy escort when, amid snow flakes and jingle bells, the band escorted him down town. At the basketball games the marches and snap numbers played by the band added to the excitement of the contest. The band has done wonders this year and has helped out any time a little help was needed. I'uttl livun. .4 -eu, 32 THIS year Mike Evans was our drum major. He was entirely new at the game of leading a band, but learned fast and under his capable leader- ship, tne band put on quite a showing at both Hawthorne, where they marched in the Navy Day parade, and Carson, where they participated in the annual Admission Day parade. The majorettes were also almost entirely new to strutting their stuff. Janice Swindlehurst, the only old member of the quintette, managed to teach the new members, Patti Ryan, Carmen Vicks, Beverly Plummer, and Mae Schmaling all of the old tricks along with some new. During the half of several football and basketball games the major- ettes in their snappy new uniforms have performed for a most enthusiastic and admiring public. Both Mike Evans and our majorettes deserve a good deal of credit for a marching band is not complete without a leader or that group of snappy majorettes. !l.lJORE'l I'I'IS Dlll Xl XLLIUK A-rly Plumnll-r, ,lmlive SUlll1lll'llIIl'Nf, I'nltl Ryan Xlllu- Enum- g . iliflfiii if ,ja N., lS.ll'li IHNV-I'IIailw X31-, June- Paul, -l1'7lllll!'lH' Nlvlq-mly., 1'urnuu- Soren-en, Ilonnzl Grout, f'll1ll'l0lft' liihlrs, liurlmrn Shia-lils, l,ur4-4-In lllaulilnurn. This is the group that likes to sing anytime, any place. A. Fifield had to almost start anew this year for the freshmen make the majority while the seniors stand back with a minority standing. These girls sang numbers varying from classical to popular with a few favorite religious numbers mixed in for variety. One night during the Christmas season the girls made the air ring, as they gathered around the Community Christmas tree to sing a few carols. The glee club entered the music festival, which was held in Carson in April, where they were well received. Accompanist for the group was Grace Kajikami, and believe me the whole glee club was another credit to Churchill County High School. 74 Double Two lou me HU max xxt ht sald to haxr the nulselx rhx e l lttle lommx 'lutlxu if lol xom sLl 1 mu .s then motto tol l heal thls gyoup 18 almost as had as Alpha lambda xx he Il It comes to eatmg Double t11o got a late st ut th1s xeal, but once thex dld get started nothmg could hold them back Under the d1l6Ll,10Il ot NI1ss Woodbuln, mth Grace Kaukaml, auompamst Axlenc DUIl1Xt'Ilt and Nlalx Crook soplanos Joan clilllk and lxldljflt-3 Coxexston sttonds and Calmae SUILHSUII and Dlann 1ldXlN altos made up th1s group of smgmg gnls Manx SOIXILG clubs 0lg'flIlllcl.ll0IlN and dSSQ'YT'llllllS xxur hostesses to t 4 tllo xx ho Lntext umd thnm xxlth a XdllttX ot songs csc gnls max a xxaxs he spotttc hx thou xx hlte ousms and bat skuts I rx la 1 mx: nan nmllmrn nn 1 run I I rl Q -f Q ll Ii Y C I I I lpha Lambda SONHL students sax that Alpha Lambdas motto IS Fat while Nou mu for tomorrow xou might go to college The guls rffuse to admit the truth of thls statement but after all seemg 18 bellexing They began the xeal with a blng up partx in the form of a hamburger frw Binee the Alpha lambda membexshlp had deueased until there are onlx ten girls most of them held offices Qxrmae Sorensen heads the gioup with Wailene Plummer xice piesident Norma Brunei secietarx Jean Crook tI'GdSlll6I and I4 lame Teel sergeant 'it arms During the fust semester the gnls found theie were good Cooke as xx ell as brains in their sotletx The hlghllghts of the 5ea1 were a spaghetti feed and the annu 11 'lhanksglxing Progressixe Dinnel The second semester brought us new members including Mary Ciook Janice Palludan Bonnie Hinkle Alice Fatha Beverly Rite Dixie Frit7 and Carmen V icks. Aided by two expert stencil cutters, Dixie Fritz and Helen Palludan, and boasting headlines made by Harold Ludwick, this year's is the best newspaper the school has enjoyed for several years. Handicapped by a small class, members of the staff have worked many hours overtime for which they have not received time-and'a-half. Stanley Schank, veteran writer and mimeograph king, not a member of the class, has assisted the staff with every issue of the paper. Editorially the paper has attempted to hold improved assemblies, and to improve general student conduct. Their campaign for a new honor list system was finally adopted by the faculty. School news for both local newspapers is written each week by members of this ambitious class. Bari I it Slim. hlbhr-, 1 Inra A GI I Wightnmn. RUN' - Iln-rln-rt l'1-an-ullalll, Darryl 'I' u TOM Montgomery's junior varsity hoop squad, although winning only five games, while losing seven, never the less are pointing for better things during the -49-50 season when all squad members return except Baglin, high-scoring forward who will be lost via graduation. The junior varsity was paced by such standouts as Baglin, David Shields, and Don Johnson, made up for a deficit in height ard lack of experience with a hustling, aggressive brand of ball throughout the season. The Fallon juniors closed their 12 game schedule with a hard-fought win over their Close rivals the Sparks' JV's. 60 iris, aslzetball AFTER a lapse of two years' time, a girls' basketball team was again organized. The girls really worked hard to make the team and once there worked even harder to stay on. Jobs and long miles home, candy and cokes, were forgotten while each and every girl got down to fundamental drill. Mrs. Byrd, the basketball instructor, had high hopes for the girls and although they didn't win any gold medals, no one can say they haven't tried. Snappy in new uniforms, they have tossed many a ball into many a basket. Shall we give them three cheers 1' I should say sol liN'K lfflbv--lkllllllil Grout, Putty liilwilrrls.
