BGARD QF STRATEGY LAST picture taken for the 1947 Lahontan was this one of our friends, the School board members. Mrs. Foster said she wanted to save the most handsome group for last, and you can see we gave her her wish. School board members never have an easy job, but this year's group have been unusually busy. In addition to running the school, they've had the added problems of the gymnasium we're so anxiously waiting for, the shop We're beginning to build, the securing ot state funds for improving our school. Board members were very active in securing passage of legislation to give the school state money to boost teacher's salaries and to make many badly needed repairs on our building. Board members have also had to cope with the problem of a rapidly increasing student body. This work would snow under less capable men, but our board members have managed the work and have been around to boost us at games too. They come to our parties, our musicals, our dinners and public speaking events and always look as it' they were having a good time. Mr. Scholz has served longest on the board. He was joined this year by Mr. Coverston, last year by Dr. Woodward. Although board meetings are held formally on the first Monday night of each month, board members are frequently at the high school, wondering how much longer the poor old furnace will continue to draw, wondering how they can stretch the budget to buy the student body equipment they want. To the school board, our thanks for a job well done. Dr. G. T. Woodward, Frank Scholz. Roy Coveiston, Wallace Smith 0 9 NV Y, 1:31 Hifi, ,rw ffzizflfilvf. 1.0133 s union fl'
