, r nofgefz 5. am We are sure the faculty-at least the feminine portion-en- vies Mrs. Lowran Boldra. For who wouldn't get married if she could escape the worries and cares of teaching some students? Helen Coverston Boldra spent ten and one-half years teaching English and Spanish in Fallon high school. During that time, she was interested in all high school activities, and was advisor of Al- pha Lambda for five years. Often her stories of her excursions through many of the Unit- ed States and of her trip to Mexico have been the source of inter- est to her students. Her collections of Mexican blankets, dolls and literature have made her Spanish classes alive. Last year, for the Junior-Senior banquet, Mrs. Boldra loaned to the students her Mexican robes and pottery for decoration. Mrs. Boldra accompanied the Alpha Lambda girls to Las Veg- as in 1939. She helped reorganize the society in 1937, and had been their advisor since then. She was on call at practically all times, and was a boon to the girls in her capacity of solving perplexing problems. Under her capable hand, food sales paid, dances were a success, and the annual Alpha Lambda picnic became something to look forward to. Of her the girls said, She's a perfect chaperone- only we never think of her as being that. Alpha Lambda members complain that Lowran Boldra stepped into the picture and snatched Helen, as they all call her, away before they knew what was happening. That the high school paper was solely Mrs. Bol- dra's job is proven by the fact that when she left, so did the paper. A graduate of Fallon high school and of the University of Nevada, Mrs. Boldra has always seemed an integral part of the school. She was one of us. Always active in the Baptist church and in lodge and civic work, somehow she always found time to make us feel that school came first. Primarily interested in literature, Mrs. Boldra has almost completed work for her master's degree from Boulder. Her scrap book hobbies have al- ways interested her students. An attitude of good sportsmanship and a show of good, common sense, combined with an enjoyable sense of humor, runs through all the things she has ever done. -5-
