Even with this disadvaniage the ‘Men of Sparta’ gave all they could. This group of athletes played three of the four Metro-League playoff teams on even results until the fourth quarters. The ’78 Spartars were not thelargestinthe league but they played with their hearts. A coach cannot ask for more. This‘spirited crew was led by Captains David Nagy and Jamie Tolar. David Pudgi! was the Most Valuable Player. Other award win- ners were Mike Leake, Best Offensive Lineman; David Pudgil, Best Attitude and Best Defensive. Marty Yonekura was voted All-Metro Second Team, Receiver. Devid Pudgil and John Aposhian received hon Yonekura was voted the All-Metro Second Team, Receiver.
