Cbrzktoploer Dock Mennonite School Lanfdolg Penmylmnzo Preyenting . The 1959 Sclau I- Andenleen Forward Many have left the stately columns of Christopher Dock with fond recollections of their high school days. In leaving our beloved Alma Mater We have tried to re- capture and record a few of the innumerable experiences which we treasure. We hope that as you leaf through these reminiscences you may share our deep appreciation and loyal devotion for our school. Dedzkation 1 Miss Emma Landis You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. Kahlil Gibran We, the class of 1959 and the Schul-Andenken stag, dedicate this '59 Schul-Andenken to you, for you have truly given untiringly of yourself. We will not soon forget your tasty doughnuts, delicious pies, and other treats, but more than this we shall remember your warm friendliness, your ready smile, your witty replies to our unceasing remarks, and your willingness to give of yourself for our enjoyment. We hope that, at least in a small measure, this book will express our gratitude for your kindness. -5. J I I . Boom' of Directom Lett to right: Paul Clemens, Paul Godshall, Ralph Hedrick, Raymond Rosenberger, Silas Graybill, Paul Longacre, Norman Bechtel. Dear Graduates oi 1959: Christopher Dock is dedicated to teaching the truth. We believe that truth is not taught except in the light of Christ as the truth is in jesus. Whatever your attainments, then, in God's world, we want you to know that we join the Apostle John when he says, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth, Ill john 4. Success, happiness, security, and a host of their companions are not goals that are pursued and caught, but they accompany the lulfillment oi true goals. When you set your goals, remember there is nothing as real as God. He was before all things. He is everlasting. All else passes away. God remains. God became most real in Christ, for He thereby became Hesh and dwelt among us. One goal above all is most real, That I may win Christ and be found in Him. Christ is our most real goal lor He is not an idea, or a point oi attain- ment, or a vague ideal ot life experience. He is a person who, when we know Him and choose to serve Him, becomes to us all things-whether success, or happiness, or security-He is all in all. 10 Edgar M. Clemens Science, Biolo8Y, Chemistry. Most ol them clamor to their places on the risers and begin stretching and yawning, as is the usual warming-up procedure. However, there are always a few who come hurrying in after the echoing ot the bell has just disappeared, and cast guilty glances at the clock. A breathless apology is given and then the practice proceeds. Although our practices required much concentration and hard work on the part of the chorus members and the director, We were well rewarded as the spring days arrived and the time came tor our annual tour. Visiting other church schools, attending other churches, and making new friends contributed much in making this year in chorus a profitable one and in helping us to attain a deeper spiritual lite. Under the able leadership of David Harley, the council has founded a systematic formation of clubs, has drawn up its constitution, has sponsored a Christmas project, etc. The nucleus of the Student Council revolves around the Religious Life, School Improvement, Fellowship, and Athletic Committees. By planning the weekly student chapels, the Religious Life Committee promotes public participation of students. Acting on the direct suggestions of students, the School Improvement Committee endeavors to assist the administration of the school. Members of the Athletic Committee have the paramount duty of organizing and directing the athletic activities on the campus. Plans for all-school socials and other fellow- ship ideas originate in the Fellowship Committee.
