Just as the aging willow tree beside the lane, the small evergreens by the pond, and the apple tree which blossoms in the spring have added much to our campus, so have the experiences of the past four years added much to our lives. The spreading oak re- minds us of the friendships we have formed by working with our classmates. As the stately pine tree rises towards the sky, our thoughts have been drawn to God as we have encountered Him in our worship experiences. Each tree on our campus can be of great significance. In this yearbook are portrayed the beauty, atmosphere, and activities of our campus and school life. ACTIVITIES C4 As branches of a tree reach heavenward, as if in praise to their maker, our souls, too, reach heavenward in search of guidance and food for our spiritual lives. We begin each day with fellowship with God through our worship experi- ences at school, which consist of chapels, prayer meetings, home room devotions, student chapels, and informal conver- sations. God speaks to us through interesting chapel speakers, re- sponsive readings, and films. Wednesday prayer meetings give us a wonderful opportunity to talk to God through con- versational prayers as well as to discuss our spiritual prob- lems and experiences with each other. Home room devo- tions on Thursday give students an opportunity to take part. Each class plans and presents itsown devotions and occasionally includes another class in its worship experience. Testimonies, films, skits, and chapels in song make our student chapels on Friday mornings interesting and meaningful. Throughout the year students seeking guidance in their spiritual problems are fortified through counselling with our school pastor or a visiting minister. The Christian Life Weeks, spaced periodically throughout the year, also in- crease our spiritual growth. As each spring brings a fresh start to trees around us, each morning worship refreshes our outlook for the future and strengthens our faith to live true Christian lives. Donna Clemmer chats with Howard Zehr, the speaker at our Spiritual Emphasis Week. 56 An aura of reverence begins each day.
