Mountain Maid Up, on the mountain top, A gala lass does dance To music that the winds Have kept for just this chance. Her hair was made of gold From suns that never roseg The depths of mountain lakes, Within her eyes, repose. Her skin is milky white Like newly fallen snow And on her cheek there shines Her youth's still sparkling glow. Her lips, a bright red rose That blossoms in her face, Are turned by constant smiles Into a line of grace. A gay and laughing sprite, She dances on and on. She turns, then turns again Until her breath is gone. She falls onto the earth Where grasses hide her face. She rests in nature's arms Till caught in sleep's embrace. Sunset The magnificent array of hue Hangs between Day and Night Like a battlefield. A battlefield where Day struggles FLORENCE BARRASCH To linger for but a few moments And Night pushes forward with maddening fury. Finally Day moves on And Night falls. , M The Test My spirit is overtaken By a sinking feeling. The fear I know grows. I am restless and impatient As the test reveals its wickedness. It winds and twists Like an old dirt road. The bumps are hard to take Wwe jfififfg JUM J W4 wif And the sharp curves looming ahead Must be overcome slowly and cautiously. Then I reach a detour and cannot N ight proceed. PHYLLIS Ponoiuarsxv Coming swiftly, spreading clark, Shadows cover all the earth, Stars begin to gleam above Giving light to distant heav'ns. Silence reigns o'er all the world, To the forest, it gives rest, Children slumber in their beds, Grasses nod and whisper dreams. Trees are speaking to the skies, Telling God of all they saw Through the long and tiring day, When the earthlings were awake. Lights are growing dimmer now Till they scarcely can be seen, Earth surrenders to the spell, Night is here, its conquest won 40 Mc we fff me any mow ' yo we Gzosasf 66071106 diff!! A9415 f .
