The long ivy-laden line to the auditorium be- gins after its formation in the gym, and a formal picture at Missouri Hall. Now in the auditorium, the Class Day tradition is about to begin, however, this is but a prelude to the morning's activities. Following the ceremony, the Senior Class President leads her class on their Hlong walkn through the double line of 'arose-laden Juniors, where the Little Sister presents the roses to her Big Sister, to front campus where the Seniors form a circle. This symbol- izes a continuing tie between Christian and the students. The Juniors gather around the outside of the circle to hear the Senior Class President speak briefly before seeing her plant the sprig of Ivy. The planting of the Ivy is symbolic of the Seniors leaving a part of themselves at Christian. After the Ivy is planted the class president cuts the Ivy between each Senior. This is severing of the ties which have held the students together during the two years. Weeks before, rose notes had been sent out to se- lected Juniors, as a token of friendship, The Juniors, collect their roses after the cutting of the Ivy. Now, to the Seniors standing alone, Ivy Chain is just a memory. No cutoffs today! Ivy Chain Proces- sion climaxes the year's events.
