, . . we were barely settled when came the inevitable-the lirst mixer . . . for some, the right introduction' and a perfect way to begin the year . . . for others, the first installment in the process of elimination .... . . . but Twelfth Night was on the job and, through date swims, exchange din- ners and informal mixers, helped us meet the males of Mizzou. . . . . . we wondered could it be possible that a faulty figurer had told us there were almost three boys to every girl in Columbia ....

i - . . . by Hallowe'en there was enough national- ism in us to permit us to hold our first all-school election of the year, and in the gym we crowned OUI' qL1CCf1S. . . . . . somehow we sensed the Texans' pride when their rather all-inclusive style show took first place for the best skit at the party-and had toadmit, though, that the Missourians' parody on The Ballad of Davy Crockett was close. . . . . yet enough colonial- ism still existed to make us want to do our showing off with the gang from the old home state. . .
