To 'rms S'rUDEN'rs: You are the only justification for Christian College. You have prepared this written and pictorial record of the school year 1955-56. You already have a mental record. VVe hope it is a happy one. Time has a way of dimming the mental record. In years to come, your College lfVz'd0w will revive many of the good days you had at Christian College. Your fellow students and your faculty members will come alive as you glance at this book. Many of your activities will be re- lived. It is my hope that when you sit down to sum up the good days of yesteryear, those spent at Christian College will loom high in your book of memoirs. X Y . Cathy had Come to Christian and there were big things to be done. . . IfVhat will Christian be like? VVi11 I like it? Is it hard? How will my room- inate and I get along? . . . these were some of the things we were wondering the September day we arrived ,at Christian College . . . in a short time we began to learn the answers .... 1 3 . . . because there was so much to do it wasn't very hard for roommates to learn to know each other .... 14 . . . it did seem a bit difficult, however, to conceive that the jumble of half- unpacked trunks and un-hung curtains which, in kinder terms, we referred to as our room, would ever begin to show up in this Room Decoration Contest people were telling us about. . . ,.Y1T-rf:-fi-,..-.,.?... ar Fri-f fg55,,.,, ,rg ,M',:g,:,n,:::?:::.tnHgrt-,ijrhz-2:-,:Q----Q MMM- Vw'--.hjjwr-MMV. But just a few Mondays later we were again well- seasoned to this business of going to school, and were even beginning to get an inkling of what to expect from those nearly unpredictable afternoon science labs. . . This is accomplished in the following ways: Q1j By striving to inform Cathy of all pertinent news, on and off campus, in an accurate and objective presentation. Q25 By presenting and clarifying campus policies and attitudes. Cgj By binding Cathy, the faculty and administration into a harmoniously functioning group. Q45 By entertaining Cathy through special columns, features and cartoons. The Microphone is a crusader for reforms, on and off campus, which will benefit Cathy and Christian College. The Microphone is the voice of Cathy Christian which conveys her feelings and attitudes to persons in influential or remedial positions. And now, looking back and remembering ideas that became realities in the 1956 College Widow, we sense' a certain thrill of ac- complishment. This thrill, however, will not be a real one until you, our class- mates and friends, show your approval of the Widow. Our task was a cooperative one involving the time and efforts of many people, and so we would like to recognize our co-workers. The editors' personal thanks go to the staff and to our advisor, Miss Dorothy Stout. We recommend to you our advertisers, those business firms which helped support our book. Our sincere thanks go to Burger-Baird Engraving Company of Kansas City and Artcraft Press of Columbia for their patience and cooperation in the production and printing of the College Widow. We appreciate the help of our photographers: Bob Ghio's Studio for organizations, activities, and queens, Ellis Photo Service for activity photos, Westhoff Studio for class and faculty pictures, and Julies' Studio for queens' portraits. VV e thank you too, Cathies, for meeting picture schedules, making suggestions and submitting activity snapshots. Christian College days must end, but we hope the 1956 College Widow will never let you forget the friends you met here or the days you spent here. Best wishes to each of you for the days to come-and to the editors of next year, Good luck.
