IT VVAS SAID by many last year when Central tied for the Carroll College Catholic Speech- meet Sweepstakes, that they would have a strong Speech Team at Central in 1954. So far this prophecy has come true. This 1954 season of speech has been perfect in every sense. Central broke all of her previous records by doing what no other school has been able to do. That is: bring home three Sweepstakes trophies. At the beginning of the season Central amassed twice as many points as the second place team, to win the Meet for all Catholic schools in the State. It was the second time in a row that Central took this meet, held annually at Carroll College. Next, and also for the second time in a row, Central won the coveted Sweepstakes trophy at the Meet for all schools, public and Catholic in the southwestern part of Montana. Finally, to round out a perfect score, Central received the greatest honor of all, the first place, or Sweep- stakes at the M.S.U. Interscholastic Meet, held in Missoula for all public, Catholic, and pri- vate schools in the State of Montana. The Speech Team owes a special debt of gratitude to Rev. Bro. II. C. Fellows for his splen- did leadership. Without Brother Fellow's help, these things would have been neither pos- sible nor probable. All boys at Central can well be proud that a man like Brother Fellows is at the head of the Speech Team.
