In just two short seasons, Jim has made an enviable record for himself. As the first graduate of Central ever to coach Central's varsity teams, he has already proven that Central graduates are of superior stock. In his first year as mentor at Central, he coached the Maroons through an undefeated Class Championship. In his second year as coach, the past season, he did what no other coach at Central has been able to do for 28 years. This was, of course, to coach Central to a victory over Butte High for the City Championship. After this game, his fighting Central squad played an undefeated season in the Class A Western Division. Although they were defeated in the State Championship game, the Maroons displayed a fiery spirit that was induced into them by their spirited mentor. A star football player in his own high school days, Jim has shown the team the pep with which he played. He has invented various trick plays and has developed the backfield into a smooth-working, precision machine which has completely baffled their opponents. 'lim has already proven his value as a coach, and all of Central and the City of Butte know that next season, and in seasons to come, he MR HM SWEENEY will produce a brilliant record of victories and championships for Central. MR. DAN McCARTHY MR. STEVE KASUN The capability of producing outstanding teamwork as was produced this past football season by the assistant coaches, Dan McCarthy and Steve Kasun, with head Coach Jim Swee- ney, reflected brightly on the Maroon Football team of 1952. Messrs. McCarthy and Kasun did a masterful job of helping Mr. Sweeney round out a group of willing boys in the latter part of last August into a hard charging, aggressive line and backfield and a smooth work- ing outfit that was to be dreaded in September, October, and November by the opposing High School's of Montana's Big l6. May we of Central, and all her loyal followers pause a moment to salute you, Steve Kasun and Dan McCarthy for transferring your grand spirit to the 1953 football team which in our opinion is the greatest football team ever produced in the annals of Central.

THE ROUNDTABLE l THERE IS NONE so deserving of the thanks of the graduating class of '54 than the untiring B.C.R.T. It was through the time and efforts of these men, who sacrificed so much for youth, that Boys' Central has risen to heights in all activities that equal any high school any- where. When the Roundtable was organized in the fall of 1943, student activities at Central were at a low ebb due to lack of public support-both financially and otherwise. Under the lead- ership of Joseph L. Markham, the first Chairman, and the interested men of this city a unique organization was established. An organization which raised finances to carry on sports and other activities at Central and at the same time raised the interest of the public in the teams which they built. The greatest example of the success can be measured in the yardstick of the time it has existed. In the eight years of the young life of this organization Central's gridiron teams have won two Class A State Championships, and was runner-up, three times. Her basketball teams won the Northern Division Tournament once, and was runner-up twice, While in 1950 Central won her first Big 16 Basketball Championship. Centra1's well organized and well equipped teams, and her tremendous coaching faculties are a direct result of the untiring efforts of the men who make up our Roundtable. It is to these men that we the Class of '54 take off our hats. It is with deep affection and humble gratitude that we offer our heartfelt thanks. To the Roundtable members of the past, more especially of the present, and with a pledge to the future, we the graduating class of 1954, Salute You!

Fas There are men who work behind the scenes in Centralls athletic program and one of these men is Rev. Bro. E. T. Beyer, our Athletic Mod- erator. The job of athletic moderator is very tiring and requires much patience and dili- gence. Brother Beyer's genial personality and great interest in the welfare of the participants in athletics has gained him the friendship of students both in the classroom and on the ath- letic field. Brother Beyer is deserving of the highest praise and thanks for a job well done. Kc.-W BROTHER BEYER, ATHLETIC MODERATOR MR. GEORGE PERRY MR. FRANCIS DOLAN The two men seen so often with the team, but never acknowledged are Mr. George Perry and Mr. Francis Dolan. A very great debt of gratitude is owed these men who have given so freely of their time, both at practices and during the games.
