Pius, F.S.C. During his years at Christian Broth- ers, Brother Pius was the advisor to every member of the Class of 1958 at one time or another. By ex- hortation but more so by example Brother Pius was a great encouragement to us all. In everything he undertook he endeavored to do his best, guiding us to do the same. In his Religion lessons Brother Pius inspired us to see our fellow men, our country and the world from God 's point of view. Brother gave us insights into the problems we would face in our life and how we were to master them. But above all Brother Pius taught us to know, love and serve God. Whether in the classroom or out Brother Pius was a source of strength for all. His cheerful, lively dis- position made him approachable by anyone. His interest in us and all we did was genuine. Though at times it was necessary for him to correct us, he did so with great patience and consummate skill. We know Brother Pius will continue to do his best for the Christian Education of youth and to bring young men to a fuller understanding of the Christian way of life. We the Senior Class of Christian Brothers are grateful to him for his generous assistance to us in our high school years. May God through His Most Holy E Mother Mary bless him in all the years to come. r A 5 5 4 W I ---- A----fa-M. I-w.-.T. .- W --H,,..,l UL 1 BROTHER L. X We sincerely hope that you have become young men who are patriotically ready for any self-sacrifice necessary to 31 promote the common good of the whole American people. I l Men of C.B.'s Class of 1958, please don't disappoint us. Oillr hopes are high, our suppliant prayers for your success are many and fervent. SENIOR ADVISOR Religion IV, Bookkeeping Business Law, Salesmanship Sociology, Economic Problems Athletic Director The ready smile, the quick retort, such is Brother Joel. In his work as Athletic Director, Brother Joel has become well acquainted with all the students of Christian Brothers. The sacrifices he makes in that position have won for him the esteem of the student body. But what has deepened that respect is Brother's work in the classroom. As a teacher Brother Joel demands the best from his students because he re- quires the same of himself. He is firm, yet just and kind. Qualities such as these have left their im- pression on us and we know we are better men for having been under the direction of Brother Joel. BROTHER JUSTIN, F.S.C., M.S. SENIOR ADVISOR Religion IV, Biology, Plane Geometry. A boy 's brother, the Christian Brother. This standard description of Christian Brothers fits Justin perfectly. Born and raised in St. Joseph having spent many of his teaching years here, Brother Justin thoroughly knows our city, our school, and its students. A boy 's interest and problems are Brother Justin's for such is his genuine concern for everything connected with Christian Brothers. A willingnessto help coupled with understanding and kindness are outstanding qualities of Brother Justin. He has helped us, guided us and formed us in more ways than we know. But this we do know. One of the blessings of our high school days is to have been closely as- sociated with Brother Justin. VISORS .2 MICHAEL PAUL HARRIS SENIOR PRESIDENT 2935 Sacramento St. Activities . . . U.S. om, CJ: CLASS OF I958 CLASS OFFICERS One of the problems confronting a Senior Class at the outset of its final year, is the selection of Class Officers. Men of quality are needed for the good . of the class as well as for the school in general. The requirements to hold office are high. Men of good character possessing qualities of leadership are what the men of the Senior Class want their officers to have. The Senior Class was privileged to have just such men ready to take up the leadership of the Class of '58, Some of these men have held their posi- tions in the past years. All have culminated their years at Christian Brothers by bringing their class and their school through a successful year. DAVID LEE BAUMAN SENIOR SECRETARY 728 So. 16th St. Favorite Saying . . . May, 1 958 To CB's most loyal fans, It had been raining all afternoon and as we went through our pre-game warm-ups the rain continued to fall in a steady downpour. The prospects of playing sixty minutes of football on a rain soaked field were not too inviting. Then someone said, Look, there's the Pep Squad. There you were indeed, down in Atchison, in spite of the rain for our first football game. At that point the outlook for the evening looked much brighter. It's always good to know that there's someone in the stands rootin' for you. After that first game you went home practically soaked to the skin. Since then you've been with us in al types of weather. You froze while watching some of the football games and sweated in a close packed gym. But what is far more important, you were behind us not just in victory, but in defeat as well. Though the score was at times lop-sided against us you cheered just as loudly as ever and came back for the next game to cheer again. With support like that who wouln't put out the extra bit of determination and energy to make you proud of us and our school. But your presence at the games is really only half the story. To execute cheers as superbly as you do requires practice. Most of us haven't the faintest idea just how much time and effort you put into your preparation for our ball games. That you willingly sacrificed your time for the benefit of our school and our teams is something for which we are sincerely grateful. One of your cheers proclaims that we've got the bestest team in the land. We do! And we've got more. Because for loyalty, sportmanship, fine performance and sheer beauty who can match the Cheerleaders and Pep Squad of the Convent. Sincerely yours, The SENIOR CLASS of 1958. l Central scores again. 56' 50 Cheerleaders being interviewed on KFEQ-TV SEATED, L. to R.: Junior Martinez, Ken Schoenfelder, Joe Winston, Urban Wise, and John I-iamera. Boys, Thank you for the most wonderful weekend of my life. I think I'm the luckiest girl in St. Joseph. Since I don't date any one C,B. boy, being Queen means more to me. Talking at the Pep Rally scared me half to death, but once I got started I guess you thought I would never sit down. The only thing about homecoming that could have been better was the final score of the game. Still it was an exciting one, and we gave them a battle. I love my trophy. It is beautiful! The dance was loads of fun. I just wish it could have lasted and lasted and lasted. To have been any football queen is a great honor, but to have been C.B.'s is even greater. Thank you again.
