As our first year at C.B.C. be- freshmen attending the school but not yet really a part of it. We soon were inducted into Cocky and ready to take on .digits J accept a new title, Sophomore. : lg The football team took up v??77T-i .,,.5,:, where they left off last year Senior Class in Retrospect gan. We entered lH'1kI10Wing , IM 1 tl another year, we were readyto .. .f , L the life and spirit of the school. The football season began, a season that was to be without defeat or a tie. During the season we developed a school spirit characteristic of C.B.C. Our introduction into the rigors of high school was softened by nearly two months of half-days due to the fact that the new addition and cafe- teria were under cdnstruction. Weekly parades were marked with freshmen ignorance as we tried to learn our right foot from our left. Within the first five months of school, most careless freshmen discovered the hardship which the demerit system can inflict. Most of us were walking on thin ice, uncertain of our next steps at C.B.C. Semester exams proved to be a new experience for most of us however, the thought that we had finished half of our first high school year was an incentive to finish the year in great style. With the year drawing to a close most of us began to feel, by our numerous experiences, that we had found a place to respectg C.B.C. By the time we reached our Junior year, such things as the Mass of the Holy Spirit, weekly parades, Auxiliary Drives, and six week report cards, became a natural part of our school lives. The foot- ball team trounced all of its opponents and finished with a three year record of 27 wins and 0 losses. This great team was ranked 8th in the na- tion. Bro. Baldwin accepted the role as principal of the school and with his discipline, kept us in line at all times. A very quiet fellow, Mr. Robert C. Horgan, led his soccer squad to the district championship. For the second year in a row we distributed W.F.C. around the St. Louis area. One of the greatest status symbols which all seniors hold dear to them is their senior rings. We received them in the last week in March and the pride which we had for them could not be measured. The apex of the Junior social life was the La Promenade Militaire. This affair, held at the Sheraton-Jefferson Hotel, will always be remembered for its splendor. Junior year came quickly to a close and the climax to a high school education was drawing nearer. . and marched on to another un- defeated season. A great thrill was beating the Jr. Bill two years in a row. Sophomore year was made even more en- joyable with the coming of' Bro. James Daniel to take over the job of Director. We began to enjoy some of the privileges which were denied us in our freshman year. Dances and mixers lwith girlsl became more and more a part of our life. However, with these privileges came responsibility. The first pro- motion list was a reward for those Sophs who had shown by their grades, uniform, and example, that they deserved the responsibility of rank. A new P.M.S. Captain William J. Forrell, was introduced to C.B.C. and worked hard to improve the military aspect of our school. One of the most spectacular events of 1963 was the State Basketball Tour- nament in Kansas City. The Cinderella team, C.B.C., ad- vanced all the way to the finals by knocking off some of the best teams in Missouri. The papers on March 10, 1963, read: C.B.C. NEW STATE CHAMPS! It was a great year, our Sophomore, and all of us left on June 5th, happy that we had finished another year. With nine months of school to go, the Class of '65 was grow- ing in age, wisdom, and under- i l-'.l.,.'i'f5 ' standing. With the loss of Mr. '41 g '5Ci ' ... Kersting as head coach of the ,,w..,L, 'gf-3 t Q 'J'i'51' football team, Mr. Gerdemann took over and led the team to a good season. The team's win- ning streak ended at 29 straight games. The Fall Review marked the time for officer commissions. Cadets dreams were made reality as they led their respective Companies and Battalions. Every school affair which we attended at C.B. would be our last. Mr. Horgan led his kickers to an- other District Title. Mr. Wilcutt and the B-Ball team de- feated Maplewood in a big game fremember the game against the Leafs two years previous?J. For some reason the Girl Representatives seemed to be more beautiful than ever before at the Officers Luncheon. The Prom symbol- ized an anti-climax to a great play. In all its austere beauty, school life at good ole C.B. was coming to an end. The last command at the Spring Review brought back memories of our Freshman year in 1961-62. May 28, that was it! The great curtain was coming to a close and all our memories would be filed away forever.
