THE AFF1L1AT1oN OF DR. WILLIAM ZAPCIC TO THE CHRISTIAN BROTHERS FEBRUARY 21, 1971 46 Fw Through his religious consecration, a Chris- tian Brother chooses to live in community and to dedicate himself to the education of youth. Some men, though not living the Brothers' community life, are made honorary members of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. These men, at great personal sacrifice of time and energy, have participated in the work of the Brothers and deserve to share in the rich spiritual rewards of the apostolate. As a mark of high esteem in which these men are held, the Christian Brothers are happy to confer the title of Affiliated Brother? Pk 214 Pk Today, we affiliate, Brother William Zapcic, M.D., who has shown by thought, word and deed the ideals expected of a brother. As a Christian he has responded to the community as a witness, his response has been so total that the Institute affiliates him and makes him part of the Brothers' witness of Christ. Truly, he fulfills our Rule in that: f'This ideal becomes a reality when the Brothers as a community create an atmosphere which makes a truly Christian education possible. The community is not closed in upon itself but extends its services to all students and to the whole field of education, it helps to free the young from their self-centeredness and en- courages them to give of themselves gener- ously. The Witness given by the members of the community to the love they have one for another is itself a lesson in the faith, calling to mind the words of Christ, 'That they all may be one so that the world may believe.,
