V , A, . -fix , if I sf wi fu ' if fi' 'I ' During the past century Christian Broth- ers Academy has grown and developed into one of the outstanding educational institutions in the area. This has been the work of the Christian Brothers, the student body of each succeeding year and the friends of the Academy together with Divine help and guidance. As we stand on the threshold of the begin- ning of another one hundred years of education at Christian Brothers Academy, we have to look back and take inspiration and encouragement from those that have gone before us. We know what they have accomplished during the past century, the record speaks for itself. We do not know what lies ahead, but if we meet the prob- lems and difficulties with the same confidence and spirit of faith, we will be able to pass on to -v d' -'is those that succeed us the torch that was handed to us. All about us great strides are being made in the fields of engineering, science and medi- cine just to mention a few areas of endeavor. We are living in an era referred to as the advent of the space age. Man will have an important role to play in this next phase of his history. We are aware that we will become part of this great new age. In order to meet the challange set before us, we will have to be imbued with those princi- ples that guided our predecessors to their heights of glory. It is with this double view of a great past and the possibility of an even greater future, that we, the Class of 1960, hope to add to the glory of Christian Brothers Academy. x seo DET COLOR GUARD P i I , v b i P b p 1 k Q 5 1 . cy 1 ,. ,. Linde- mann at quarterback, R. Delahoyd at fullback, B. Cary and F. Leigh at the halfback spots, rolled to a TD from the C.B.A.'s 31. In the fourth quarter R. Delahoyd bulled his way over from the four yard line to climax a 50 yard drive. S. Lindemann passed to J. Cozzolino for the PAT. Standouts among the unsung C.B.A. forward wall were: T. Barton, B. After the Brothers marched 57 yards for the Hrst tally, alert guard B. Buckhoff scooped up a blocked kick and thundered in for another 6 pointer. S. Lindemann scooted around end for the cli- max to a 76 yard trek. A little later G. Napierski charged over to end a 50 yard march. In the third quarter R. Delahoyd behind some vicious blocking, broke away and sped 20 yards to score. The reserves playing the entire fourth quarter crossed the goal on a fine drive by halfback D. Hal- lock. Steve Lindemann All-Albany Quarterback 'IIO c LASALLE Where is the Ball? C.B.A. 0 LaSalle 0 In this crucial game against unbeaten LaSalle the Brothers just couldn't get across safely. Halfback B. Carey was the big gun for C.B.A. as his frequent long runs kept the Brothers within range of that goal line. Those broad shoulders and hefty builds of T. Barton, B. Buckhoff, J. Munkwitz, J. Ruth and J. Cozzolino proved to be the stopper to all offers of LaSalle. T. Connery seemed a backneid wizard as he blocked, intercepted and generally proved a nuisance to LaSalle's passing game. 111 Z Ja x :gilt . H J w'4rm.vLZ . A Bob Nolan Defensive Middle Line Backer All-Albany Honorable Mention Wh'fffd0Y h kY0 ego ga C.B.A. O N.Y.M.A. 19 Oh no! was the cry as the Brothers met an un- derrated team and were badly beaten. In the swamp caused by torrential rain of the previous three days our unblemished streak ended. For some reason the Brothers just couldn't get up a head of steam after the quick TD made by N.Y.M.A. after the opening kick-off. The team headed back to Albany unhappy but determined that it wasn't going to lose the next big game with Albany High. C.B.A. 19 V.I. 12 We went and did it!!! Our arch rivals went down after a short-lived fight. After two shocking TD's by alert V.I. backs our team finally got dug- in. just before the end of the first half R. Delahoyd recovered a fumble and battled his way up to the one yard lineg on the next play he bulled over for the score. Another recovered fumble set up a Cary to Lin- demann pass play and then Delahoyd scored to tie up the game. Then as the rain and cold wind battered onto the already wet cold field, S. Lindemann charged on twisting, churning from the 14 yard line for the game winning tally. The Brothers marched up the field 62 yards before S. Lindemann raced over to score. F. Leigh stole the show by his spectacular broken field runs and final 5 yard sprint to paydirt. D. Willingham's vicious tackles stymied the Albany High attack and the Line of T. Barton, who that day closed his fine C.B.A. career of 4 years, B. Buckhoff, J. Munkwitz, J. Ruth, and J. Cozzolino to mention closed shop for Albany. B. Cary made a remarkable run as he scooped up a fumble and sprinted 73 yards for a TD.
