0 JUNIOR YEAR Thss year the lunsors came through wsth few exceptsons to be the non commssssoned offscers of the regsment All of the master and fsrst sergeants were lunsors Although the football team had a poor year D Yezzs R Bobbsns and hss toe and C Boutsn were very effectsve The season was not very successful but the expers ence gasned was snvaluable The hoop team helped by the efforts of J Matthews fAll Albanyl W Adams D Obertsng and others came through to wsn second place sn the Dsocesan League The team record was T3 5 R DAlessandro captured the publsc speaksng medal for the second consecutsve year D Horan and T Flansgan were second and thsrd respectsvely In the sprsng T Qusnlan won the Csty Msle Champsonshsp T Campson and S Krause proved very effectsve runnsng the hurdles P Donnelly and hss left hand hurled a no hst game for the Brothers baseball team R Jordan was awarded the Fsrst Sergeants Medal and P LaChapelle took the Sergeants Medal For the fsfth consecutsve year R Starzec won the general excellence medal SENIOR YEAR Fsnally came the year the culmsnatson of three years work If you had come to the campus on September fsrst you would have seen our fabulous football team dosng the unglamorous part of busldsng a champsonshsp team Thss was helped too by the pre game pep rallses Sensor grsdders were R Benlamsn R Bobbsns C Boutsn Co Captasns W Byrne and D Obertsng R Devey G Ds Donna E Gallagher J Grsner R Holm J Lossto R Lavsgne C Maffeo P Paeglow J Parsseau R Sanford R Starzec F Tallman and D Yezzs At the end of the season the followsng players were named All Albany R Devey as quarterback J Grsner as guard R Holm as center J Parsseau as fullback and D Obertsng as end Later sn the yearJ Parsseau was awarded the Thom McCan trophy for the outstandsng scholastsc football player of the T958 season Cornmssssors day brought snto the lsmelsght our new commss ssoned offscers for the comsng year R Starzec recesved the rank of Colonel of the Regsment A thsrd battalson was added to the regs offscers R Lavsgne Pressdent D Yezzs Vsce Pressdent W Keck Treasurer C Maffeo Secretary and K Ksmmsns Sacrsstan Through the work of our commsttee we recesved Knsghts psns wsth a specsal snssgne dessgned by W Conlon The Moderator Brother Aloyssus together wsth the Knsghts Offscers and Colonel Starzec conducted the monthly A D C meetsngs The sensors were represented on the cross country team sn the persons of T Qusnlan and R Bauer The ever fabulous C B A rsfle team agasn made an excellent showsng thss year under the co captasncy of Walt Zurn and Bob Murray Other sensor members were P Mahota D Horan W Helm R Hagadorn and R Hufland The glee club made beautsful mussc agasn under the dsrectson of Mr John Fstzgerald moderatorshsp of Brother Aloyssus and pressdency of C Maffeo The regsmental band under the dsrectson of Mr James Leyden and Brother Adrsan set the pace for the parades The sensor class showed sts strength srs talent by gsvsng the largest turnout of cadets sn the hsstory of the wonderful Joe Hayes Show Thss year s musscale extravaganza was called Tsme Swsngs Back and was based on our Centenary Year The wsnter months saw the basketball team agasn hst the hardwoods wsth Sensors W Adams J Demarest P Donnelly R Lavsgne J Matthews Cagasn selected on the All Albany teaml D Obertsng R Smsth and M Parker The Msd Wsnter Ball was another great success under the leadershsp of Brother Eugene Moderator R Starzec R Byers and K Ksmmsns and thesr respectsve commsttees As we come to the end of our sensor year and look back over the past years we begsn to realsze that all of thss would not have been posssble sf st had not been for our devoted parents and the members of the faculty both past and present lt ss to them that we owe our undysng g atstude and hope that we wsll be able to lsve up to the hsgh sdeals that they have set before us by l hi lr- .NS SQDMR l ,170 1 . . . . .
