A hardy band of brothers set forth upon the rugged slopes of the city in 1859 -- to lay the foundations of a unique Christian school for boys. This institution has prospered and grown strong. Dedicated men they Were, imbued with a strong Christian faith, and a conviction that the American boy is willing and ready to serve his God -- and his country too. lt is our happy privilege to extend our congratulations to the Christian Brothers of this generation, who carry on the glorious tradition established by those pioneers a century ago. For a hundred years the Academy has labored in the Field of Catholic education, and it has long enjoyed in the United States of America a well-deserved reputation For its achievements, both scholastic and otherwise. Pride of place, however, has always been given to the training and Formation For a Full life oF staunch Catholic citizenship, thereby continuing a tradition that dates back to our glorious Father and Founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle.
