Page 'iziizvly-111-n This season C. B. A welcomed a new varsity coach, Mr. Ed O'Haire. He opened his coaching career with a winning season. Coach O'Haire is a recent graduate of Man- hattan College, where he majored in Phy- sical Education and was a member of the Varsity basketball team. Sparkplug and high scorer for the t'Broth- ers was Frank O'Brien who averaged near- ly twenty points per game. Ron De Matteo greatly aided the team in the rebound de- partment. Speedy Chet Di Lallo, a fancy ball handler, kept the boys on their toes and confused many an opponent. The team will miss these three next year. Prospects for next season look bright for Coach O'Haire. Among the returning let- terman will be John Di Giulio, Ray Casey and Tom Bailey. Two sophomores who un- doubtedly will be stars in the coming two years are John Riley and Jim Donahue. Good luck to next year's team and to Coach Ed O'Ilaire.

WARSIITY QRUSSfCQOUllXllVIRY TIEAM Brother Denis had his harriers out early to condition them for the first meet, which was held at Utica, N. Y. on October 4th. The team made a fine showing by placing sixth among the 34 schools that competed. Don Uhiachiaretti was the first C. B. A. man across the finish line with Dick Powers close behind him. During the following weeks the C. B. A. harriers competed in the Grout Memorial Run at Schenectady and in the Gloversville Invitational Meet. In the first of these, the Cadet runners again placed sixth against the top-flight competition that this meet always provides. In the Gloversville Run, Brother llenis's boys placed second, missing first place by a very small margin. Don Chiachiaretti was lost to the team early in the season because of illness. His loss was keenly felt, especially in the Meet held at Vestal, N. Y. In this race the team placed seventh out of sixteen teams. ln its two dual meets with Albany High, C. B. A. established its position as best in the city by defeating the Garnet runners by perfect scores in each of the meets. The three Senior members of the 1953 Cross Country team: Don Chiachiaretti, Bill Stolz and Dick Powers. These boys have been the mainstay of the hill-and-dale squad for three years. Their loss, through graduation will be keenly felt. Page ninety-one
