THE TRANSITICN The transition between Christian Broth- ers, Academy on Lodge Street and its establishment in its new set of buildings on University Heights is embodied ir1 the person ol' its venerable dean ol' the faculty, Rev. Brother A. Paulian. F.S.C. llis thirty-three years at the academy were divided between the old buildings and the new and more commodious ones. Ile was a member of the board ol' direc- tors that conceived the idea of building a new school, and then voted his approval for the gymnasium and faculty house, sup- porting wholeheartedly the financial drives which made possible each successive step in these glorious chapters of expansion and modernization. His never-failing devotion in extolling C.B.A.'s past glories has inspired many younger Brothers and their students to participate in the present school's more recent successes. The cadet at C.B.A. occupies much of his time outside ol' his regular class schedule with activities of all kinds, tending to develop many of his talents besides those intellectual developments attained through his regular studies. ln varying part of the picture we might see him in the regular school band or the select band, in Rev. Brother Thomas, Principal, and Rev. Brother Paulian, Dean, leaving after officially closing the school residence at Lodge Street, September, 1948. Activities the glee club, on The Sentry staff, on Thr Carle! staff, in dramatics, in public speaking, in various religious activities, or in the library. No matter what the activity, the cadet here learns some particular phase of work in which he may develop his aesthetic sense to some degree of ex- cellence and in a field of his own choosing. 44 77 7?

CZLEE CLUB If one were to walk to the mess hall after the sehool sessions have adjourned. he would be greeted by the strains of boyish voices singing the songs of the past as well as of the future. An important part ol' CB..-X. life is the glee Club. Day after day the boys proceed to practice sessions under the eapable conductor Professor Donald MfcCarthy. The moderator. Brother Bernard John. is always on the lookout to see that the boys are not tempted by other activities to miss rehearsal and deserves much credit for the fine aggregation which the glee Club is today. So popular are these cadets. that they are Called upon to sing at the various school assemblies and activities. Many an audience at a public speaking contest has found added en- joyment in hearing the old familiar songs sung by these lyricists. The four part singing of the club always results in a beautifully harmonious product. The members work hard and spend many hours on this extra-curricular activity. but all is not give. Ulm' filllll :li Spring Concert The fruits of the toiling are many. Each boy gains a realization and appreciation of good music, whether it be popular, ecclesiastical or classical. Songs which will remain with him always are part of the repertoire of the members. He will always have a song at his Hngertips. helping to make him a contribution to the success of any endeavor which he undertakes in the future. The C.B.A. Glee Club is one of the most beneficial organizations at the school.
