The team was led to victory by Harry Woolhouse, with a score of 194 out of 200, followed by Tom Barber, ,lim Hannan, Dick Thornbs and Dick Gundlach with scores all above 190. The second team, comprised of joe Joyce, Tom Flanagan, Jack Leary, Bill Chesterfield and Bob Kasper, captured fourth place in the nation with a score of 945. The William Randolph Hearst Trophy and medals were awarded publicly before 20,000 citi- zens on May I5 in a ceremony at Lincoln Park Bowl, with the C.B.A. Regiment and competing area bands in attendance. Jack Dempsey, former W'orld's Heavyweight Champion, and Harold Rus- sell, handless veteran and Motion Picture Academy Award winner in i'The Best Years of Our Lives , made the presentations all the more impressive. The Hearst Newspapers throughout the country appropriately recorded the event. giving C.B.A. national acclaim for the prominence of its cham- pionship riflc teams. Needless to say, the C.B.A. rifle team has ac- quired quite a standing for itself and in the years to come we have hopes that this reputation and tradition will continue to be maintained. It is without doubt that C.B.A. could not possibly have attained the goals which it reached, if it hadnit been for the help and inspiration which it received from its moderators and coaches. and from such prominent pcrsonages as Messrs. Edward Urschel, W'alter Bowers, john Wfeiss. W'illiam Gundlach, Anthony Haas. W'inston Chesterfield and Harry W'oolhouse, to name a few.
