The Purple and Cold finished the season tied with La Salle of 'l'rox' lor the League lead. in spite ol the laet we had beaten them in both league games. The play-ofl' game was played on the neutral Court at Siena College. The Albany Cadets took the lead at the outset and never were headed. winning -194-l. In the Evangelist 'llournarneut held at the same place the Brothers swept by St. -Iohnls. 56 l lv. La Salle. fill 28. and St. Columbals. Til HU. to win the tournament. Oddly enough. the Brothers opened their season against La Salle. their bitter rivals. The game proved to be rugged and seoring was kept at a lniniinurn. lVhen the final whistle blew C.B.A. was on the long end ol' a 29 20 seore. The seeond game ol' the season brought together the pre-season favorites. C.B.A. and St. Klaryis. After leading H1Ost ol' the way. the Brothers were beaten by a Gael rally. 38434. Catholic Central, though not in the same class as C.B.A.. put up a gallant Hght before bowing. -l9f34. Milne. the next opponent, was no mateh for the Golden Tidei, and were beaten 5631. The Brothers,' racked up their fourth win in five starts by trouneing Albany High, 47-33. After trailing highly favored C.B.A. by only a point at half time, Cathedral became victim of a fierce C.B.A. rally and were turned back. 49-34. The first ol' the two games with our aneient rivals V.I. was a disappointing one as the team bowed in the final minutes ol' play. 40138. Hitting for fifty pereent ol' their shots, the Purple and Cold trouneed St. Mary's. 61-40, to gain a tie for top spot in the league. The week-end of Feb. ll was disastrous. as C.B.A. bowed to Catholic High and F. Rc-stifo Controls ball T. Carroll takes the ball off the baekboatd Albany High. -H '42 and fill 29 respeetively. These. however. were the final losses inflicted on the team for the remainder ol' the season. llilne and Albany Academy were both thrashed by the Brothers, the forrner 48' 32 and the latter 69f47.
