The life of the cadet at C.B.A. is rounded out with a sports program that amply fulfills the pur- pose of his physical development. The cadets have regular gym periods intermingled throughout their schedules, besides that received through the P.M.S.8zT. in marching and physical drills. The school teams that compete with other schools furnish a large percentage of students in expert training in particular sports. These are the varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams in foot- ballg the varsity team in cross countryg the varsity, MR. Tuoztms PETE TNTOONEY Football, Basketball, Baseball Coach Sports... junior varsity, freshman and midget squads in basketballg the varsity and freshman teams in trackg the varsity teams in rifle shootingg and the varsity and HB teams in baseball. The intramural sports are enthusiastically fol- lowed through the facilities of the interclass cross country meet, the interclass basketball tournament. the boxing tournament and the annual field day. There are few cadets, therefore. who don't actually participate actively in one or more ol' these forms of athletics at C.B.A. 4410355

when Jerry Bull Latorre plunged across the goal. George Urshell's 30-yard run and an interception by Neil Westgate of a Cathedral pass plus Zan- grando's point made the score 19-0. Another touchdown by Jerry Latorre, two by Wagner, and one by Harold Shannon, all in the second half, ended the day's activities. C.B.A. played Mount Pleasant of Schenectady on Saturday, October 16. The Red Raidersu proved to be too much for the Brothers as they outplayed C.B.A. from every angle to rack up a 27f0 victory. A boy by the name of Kozac was most effective as he tallied three times for the Schenectady eleven. Co-Captain Bob McLean's defensive play was the only bright spot for C.B.A. In one of the best-played games of the year. C.B.A. vanquished Vincentian Institute 19-7. A touchdown by Jerry Latorre, which was followed by a Donato to Wagner pass, made the score 7-0. The C.B.A. line, led by Ziamandanis, continually rushed the Lions backfield, which eventually led to the interception of a V.I. pass by Wagner, who then scampered 45 yards to pay dirt. V.I.'s touch- down was made by Vadney. C.B.A.'s Hnal tally was also scored by Bob Wagner as he did some fancy running on an 85-yard jaunt. C.B.A.'s next victim was Albany High. A 95- yard march in the second period, followed by Zangrando's extra point, put C.B.A. ahead 7f0, at the half. A pass from Wagner to Tom Carroll accounted for the second score and a center plunge by Frank Restifo comprised the third touchdown. Albany High recovered a C.B.A. fumble and two plays later crossed the goal. Donato,s interception and 25-yard runback concluded the scoring with C.B.A. winning 25-7. The Brothers had to relinquish the Siena Trophy, symbolic of Diocesan League supremacy, to La Salle Institute when the Purple and Gold went down to defeat at the hands of the Troy Cadets. C.B.A. tallied first after a march down the field, but La Salle came back on a pass play that netted 60 yards for a touchdown. Another pass by Maloney enabled the Troy Cadets to get the final and deciding touchdown. McGraw kicked the extra point after each touchdown, which gave La Salle a 14-5 victory. A determined Albany Academy team defeated C.B.A. in the final game of the year by a 19--I3 score. The Brothers scored first when Dominic Donato covered 30 yards on a quarterback sneak. The extra point was good. Academy came charg- ing back with a 53-yard march to score. In the third period, Marv Anderson went over for a touchdown and kicked the extra point. A Bob Wlagner to Tommy Carroll pass netted 42 yards and a touchdown which tied the score at 13 all. Academy sewed the game up in the fourth period when they tallied on a pass to Tim Anderson.
