Memories will fade in time to come, Will we remember how the west was won? Remember the nights around the campfire they'd sing Or be ready for what outlaw tomorrow would bring? One tired lonely cowboy gazed into the sun. Will I be remembered for the deeds I've done? - Nancy McLeskey V 'V' ,, I' ,,,....f- Q' 1, 'h ,W . There were cowgirls, cowboys and Indians too. I think l even saw a few that l knew. Jenni Masters looked like a pioneer mother. Larry Millar could have passed for Kit Carson's brother. Mary Boren looked like a character from Gunsmoke. David Slater reminded me of Black Bart, no joke. Daniel Stovall looked more like Daniel Boone. There were others who looked like characters from a saloon It was a relief to know that it was being done for fun. And no one would blast the Dean with a gun. A contest was held, and pictures were made. The drinking and gambling were all a charade. If visitors got nervous, Mrs. Hurd would just say, Don't worry pardner, it's just Western Day at CA! - Mr. Charles Hancock r ,I I Q . '-xxx, A I' bar'- DAY ,,. . 6 WANTED: more dead than alive. VARSITY B49 STANDING: Philip Sypert, Tommy Campbell, Marc McCord, Gerald Knight, Ken Boob Latimer, Coach Ken Allen. KNEELING: Joe Oxendine, Mark Hancock, Freddy Bennett, Jimmy Kelley, James Dobson. This year the Jets have had their best year ever. This being only the third year for CA to have a varsity team, the Jets have won their first games ever. In their first two years they had a record of 0-21, but this year they broke out of their losing streak. Not only did they win their first game, but, as of the time of this publishing, they were tied for second place and still climbing with a 5-2 conference record. This year the Jets have been gifted with an excellent coach in Ken Alleng and they've also received four quite good newcomers, and of course we couldn't forget our six old timers. The Jets have finally arrived and long may they live!
